We opened our first bakery in the South End in 2000 with one goal: to make the world a sweeter place through warm smiles, gooey sticky buns, and irresistible BLTs. Every day we pinch ourselves that we get to do what we love – share awesome food and welcoming hospitality – with everyone who walks through our doors and visits us here. Led by James Beard Award-winning pastry chef + co-owner Joanne Chang, Flour Bakery now has nine locations in Boston + Cambridge. We offer buttery breakfast pastries; soft + chewy cookies; luscious pies; gorgeous cakes; and fresh, made-to-order sandwiches, soups, and salads – all prepared daily by our dedicated team.

Branch of a local chain of pastry shops specializing in French treats like croissants & sticky buns.

I had a wonderful experience at Flour Bakery + Cafe (MIT location). I ordered the beef sandwich, the meat of the day pizza, and a latte, and everything exceeded expectations.

The beef sandwich was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, paired perfectly with fresh bread and well balanced ingredients. The meat of the day pizza was equally impressive. You can tell they use high quality ingredients, and the crust had that perfect texture that’s crisp on the outside and soft inside.

The latte was excellent too. Smooth, rich, and beautifully made, it complemented the meal perfectly.

The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, with a nice mix of students and locals. It’s a great spot whether you want a proper meal or just coffee and a break.

Highly recommend this place if you’re around MIT. I’ll definitely be back.

Loved the atmosphere. They have great variety of pastries. Highly recommend the sticky sticky bun!! We also tried Honey milk cake and banana bread they were ok I liked them better the next day when I took the leftovers. I had dirty matcha and I liked it! A bit pricey for this order we paid 45$ but we were happy ^^

Flour Bakery is a good neighborhood bakery and sandwich shop that has a good variety of baked goods and decent sandwiches. We enjoy their seasonal pop tarts, muffins and scones, and lemon meringue pie. Have tried their different cakes, lemon raspberry, coconut, and chocolate. They are all too sweet for our liking. We do get their sweet potato pie during the holidays which has a decent flavor.

The Erie St location has a few parking spaces which is convenient. Overall, a good bakery for sweet treats.

Delightful bakery with a great selection of fresh sandwiches, baked goods, and desserts. I tried the cauliflower melt, veggie hummus, and chicken tikka sandwiches—each had good flavor, though they were a bit on the dry side.

The standout for me was the Tcho chocolate cream pie—absolutely delicious and worth the visit on its own. Their cold brew is also excellent and pairs perfectly with the desserts. Overall, a charming spot that’s definitely worth stopping by.

The food at Flour is so good – baked fresh and always prepared well. But I’m writing this review for the staff – they are so welcoming to everyone that comes in, have extremely good customer service skills, and are very attentive to people, and strive to keep the store clean – even in a winter like this with so much snow and salt placed outside the store for safety. I’m there at the bakery often and I’m incredibly impressed relative to other coffee shops and bakeries. In particular, the woman who seems to manage the store, Sarah, is truly one of the best service people I have ever experienced. I always see her being thoughtful to the customers, warm, incredibly responsive, and very courteous. I’m not sure what position she holds, but she should definitely be promoted. Honestly.

The best avocado toast ever! It was super delicious. Good coffee and is a place with huge windows that let the sunlight in! It was just amazing!!! Love it

Not enough items are both gluten free and dairy free. A real shame that the gluten free bread has milk in it. And! It’s all very overpriced. Added a photo for the “sandwich made as a salad”. Pretty disappointed that this was $20.

This bakery has a lot of different fresh baked goods that are very delicious. They have the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had. I like that they have seasonal drinks, some are better than others. The food is average at best, a tad bit on the pricey side for mid food. Most of the employees are nice, while others display micro aggressions. Unfortunately, because of that reason, I will not be returning to this location. I also was a regular customer here.

Similar to the other flour locations, this location offers excellent pastries and drink options. I did appreciate the larger seating area and parking lot right outside relative to the other locations I’ve visited. Worth checking out!

That ham and cheese croissant was ridiculous – in the best way possible. Vanilla latte was a vanilla latte. Smooth with a nice finish, but could’ve used an extra hit of something. Probably could add a shot next time, but overall nice. Strawberry mint lemonade? Bomb. But, that ham and cheese croissant… Straight-fire. Glad I’m not local, I’d eat that every morning and see a spike in my waistline. (Pro tip: Get it warmed up!)
