I love this place!
Usually go for dinner but we stopped in for lunch. I had chicken tenders, cole slaw & fries. Hubby hand the fish & shrimp. Everything was wonderful!
Server I think her name is Ashley but really they are all great and feel like friends every time we’ve ever went.
Prices are reasonable, clean and inviting. If you have room for dessert you won’t be disappointed.

I ordered the catfish and shrimp plate. The catfish was delicious, fried in cornmeal breading. The shrimp were fried in flour, and they were a disappointment. I don’t know why the shrimp wasn’t fried in cornmeal like the catfish. The onion rings were delicious, as was the banana pudding.

Well, two nights in a row and from my last experience prior to that it’s really gone down downhill. First night I had the burnt ends. Was there early enough maybe 4 o’clock so they should’ve still been fresh if they close at eight, but you could see the bones were even dry inside. None were good as if they had been sitting. I get the baked beans and those are always good. Boyfriend got the cheeseburger and it was meh! Nothing special I’m not bad, but not memorable either.
Tonight, we ordered the catfish dinner and it certainly wasn’t like it used to be, regardless of the smaller portions or size of fish. It just had no flavor, but the batter was nice. The fish was just reminding me of previously frozen. Again, I had the baked beans which were good. Boyfriend had the coleslaw also good.
Also in the past, the German chocolate cake was out of this world, but ever since the woman that has the cupcake chopped down in Livingston stopped making it for them it very much taste like a box cake. Nothing has changed appearance wise, and the slices are still huge, but it just doesn’t have the nice cocoa flavor that it should.

Services always nice although, they tend to get very loud talking to each other across the counter or across the room so it’s kind of distracting.
Very disappointing after my third bad experience I think we are done with Florida’s kitchen. Very nice Yeah, exactly Stella’s diner

Man, this place is just GOOD! Great service. Tons of handmade food choices. I’ll have to be back to try those desserts though. And you gotta try that swamp water.
Ok, I tried those desserts. The cheesecake is no joke. That alone is worth the drive.

Really good but the pictures don’t do it justice cuz first we went pretty late on very cold night so not many people out, and then it smelled and tasted so good that we ate half before remembering to take picture. Sorry about that! But we had fried mushrooms for appetizer, 3 meat bbq and salad. Oh my! Now my only complaint is they only have banana pudding on Saturdays, which is very sad on Friday.

Florida’s is well known among East Texans as an authentic and reliably good BBQ place. I would say the ribs and fried okra are the go-to dishes. Always delicious. The prices are pretty good considering recent inflation. The ambiance is not great but the place doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy. My family always enjoys its visits here.

Based on a few comments we got on the place we decided to try it out. The portions are generous and the the food overall was good. My husband ordered the Saturday special “Burnt Ends” – the meat was tender! I ordered the BBQ Beef Sandwich and crispy fries. While the meat was tender and generously portioned – I found it a bit bland and frankly the BBQ sauce was watery with very little taste – being in Texas I usually try the BBQ sandwiches and I have had better. But the fries did come out nice and crisp like I like them! We will come back to try the other items on their menu.

Florida’s Kitchen in Livingston is a true gem that’s been around for decades, built on family recipes passed down through the years. It’s only open a few days a week, but it’s worth planning a trip. Saturdays are the best—burnt ends and banana pudding as the special—and it’s our favorite day to go.

The burnt ends are packed with flavor, seasoned with Ms. Florida’s own blend that she makes herself, just like everything else in the kitchen. Add in the banana pudding, and you’ve got some of the best down-home cooking you’ll ever find. It was so good it actually brought tears to my eyes the first time.

If you want authentic, soulful food made with love, this is it.

Delicious! We were lucky to visit on the “last Sunday” that they were open! Of course we had to try the ribs. The BBQ baked potato was great too. Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Felt like “home”.
