The service was amazing. Through out the meal servers were consistent with making sure the table had everything we needed. Great atmosphere had some smooth jazz playing in the background and overall all locals seemed happy. The food was delicious as well. I definitely enjoyed the yammed wings Along with the fried chicken and macaroni. The peach cobbler was a little soupy for my liking and had a little too much nutmeg but overall it was all good.

The wholesome, delicious, and authentic Southern USA cooking was served with mounds of generosity and warmth when our trio came in for a mid-morning feast. Mary J, our server, welcomed us and directed us to a great little table looking toward the bar. She also walked us through some of the house specialties. We were aware that two years prior, the James Beard foundation made this the first Oklahoma award winner (Chef Andrew Black’s Grey Sweater became the second a year later). Well-deserved, even though it took more than 65 years for the world to know that right here in Oklahoma City, Florence Jones was making an indelible print on the culinary world. It’s “classic” cuisine, something that needs to be heralded because of the culinary wizardly that sprang from humble beginnings. Although its often referred to as a soul food “joint,” we’d prefer calling it an authentic, southern USA style, food-for-the-soul “experience.” The ambience is as important as the food. Our table came with representatives from the Middle East, West Africa, and the Mid-West (Chicago). We were first timers, and we were not disappointed. We savored the baked chicken and dressing, grilled tilapia, fried chicken salad, with shareable sides of mac & cheese, collard greens, corn bread, with a bevy of “seasoned” specialties consisting of green beans, more collards, and spinach. We started with a more than generous platter of deep fried chicken livers. This was our only disappointment because we found them far too salty for our tastes. But every other dish was perfectly seasoned, southern style. The portions were quite large, but Mary recommended that we save a little room to share a dish of the famous peach cobbler over a cup of coffee. We did, and yes, we had to have the coffee, because well prepared Southern food is like a sedative, you know. Authenticity is key here. You might be able to find delicious southern food elsewhere, but at Florence’s, the decades of experience infuses the foods with a unique element, like aged wine, which you can’t simply replicate just anywhere. And then there’s the hospitality. The atmosphere is relaxed and the folks are nice. From looking around, you get sense that the patrons are like regulars coming from all walks of life, all parts of the city (and in our case, across the globe). Highly recommended, even if you have visitors wanting a parting taste of real southern hospitality en route to the airport. Easy to get to, easy to park…just plain easy to enjoy!

Absolutely amazing!!! The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all amazing. We had the Friday specials, chicken and dumplings, and the salmon croquettes with collard green, seasoned spinach, buttered corn, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cornbread and the green beans . By far, the absolute best down-home southern scratch cooking I have had in a VERY long time!!! My wife and I will be back again and again!!!!!

Everything on my plate was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I truly hope they keep the “promotional bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer.” The flavor and texture of these plump and juicy shrimp made them the best bacon-wrapped shrimp I have ever had. I also love that you get 3 side dishes perfectly portioned. Cold beverages served in mason jars add the perfect Southern flair as well.

I have no words!!! The food was soooooooo amazing. I apologize that I am just getting to the review. Well done, ladies!!! In my party, I had with me three seasoned women (ages from 70+ to 90). They were impressed and all made happy plates!!! My spiritual mother, one of the seasoned women, never finishes her plates no matter where we dine. However, this time, she ate every bite!!!! KUDOS!!! Ms Florence, keep up the love you administer in every dish while you can!!! Ms Victoria, I know you add love to your dishes as well . I know this personally, you informed me that you prepared the dressing. It was sooooo delicious!!!! It was so amazing to experience the mother/daughter food creations. ‘Love’ covers a multitude…of deliciousness (‘I’ am including food with that verse-lol)!!!! I/we will most definitely be returning!!! For sure, I will continue to recommend to others that they must stop in to try!!!! God bless you!!!!

Great place for southern cuisine. I had the fried chicken with seasoned green beans and candid yams. The yams were on fire, a must try for sure. I followed up on some peach cobbler which awesome and fresh out the oven. There was a bar as well for after hour drinks. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. The place was very clean, and had a nice environment to chill and relax without being rushed. This was my 1st time and will be back for sure.

We loved it. First time ever eating here, we will definitely be back. The food was just what you expect. The waiter was very attentive, nice and helpful.

We had the hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, Mac & Cheees, and buttered corn. Cooked perfectly, now that gravy, it would be great on anything.

We also had the fried chicken, Mac & Cheese, collard greens and mashed potatoes. Chicken was cooked perfectly, not greasy. It was light batter and crispy.

I will be back to try the chicken & dumplins, and chicken & dressing.

An Eastside staple for soul food. I can appreciate the upgrades & remodel of Florence’s. I hadn’t eaten here in years.
I started with a watermelon lemonade & had 3 refills. It had the right amount of sweetness & tart. I chose the pot roast with, mac n cheese, collard greens and Boley beans. You get 3 sides!
Normally I prefer the savory pinto beans & savory collard greens. Both my sides had sweet undertones. Hot sauce balanced the sweetness. Just a heads up depending on your taste bud preference. The fried chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The yams were sweet to the point it was my dessert. Certain days of the week feature different specials. Will go back for the fried fish.

Service is excellent, the food was very good and I’m giving 5 stars because if you go here you need to know its home cooking like from grandmas house!
I loved that their collard greens were meatless. The catfish was pretty good. There is no alcoholic beverages here.
