We have been talking about eating at Florence’s for years but the timing never works out right for a weekday. But now that we have been once we will make sure to make the time again! The fried chicken was perfectly cooked and not too salty. We also had the smothered pork chops and didn’t realize they would also be breaded and fried but it was a good surprise! The grilled tilapia had a hint of warm baking spice, maybe all spice, and it was also excellent. Make sure to try to collard greens if they are in season as well as the fantastic Mac and cheese. We didn’t have much room left but couldn’t pass up the banana pudding which was a great finish to an excellent meal!

Really tasty food and you receive your food fairly quick compared to other soul food places. Yammed fried chicken is a must to try and they give 3 vegetable sides. Which is rare when comparing soul food places. All for a reasonable price of around $20. Only knock I have is it was kinda warm and I’m not sure if their ac was broken or what. Just being a small hand held fan and you’ll be ok. Servers were also nice a knowledgeable. Will definitely return again

An Eastside staple for soul food. I can appreciate the upgrades & remodel of Florence’s. I hadn’t eaten here in years.

The waitress’s smile was gorgeous and won me in. Service was fast and friendly. The blackberry mixed with grape drink was delicious. My meal was smothered chicken with yams, cabbage, and beans dessert was peach cobbler. A lot of pros about this place the only con was the parking lot needs a little TLC. yall got this.

This place was bustling the entire time we were there, and it was clearly a beloved local establishment! Florence (the founder and owner) was even there, smiling and chatting with customers at 90 years old! The pinto beans and mashed potatoes were the highlights for me. I enjoyed the fried chicken, but I was hoping for meatier cuts. The sweet tea was delightful, and the corn muffins were a lovely touch.

My first visit for lunch today was very disappointing. We ordered chicken and pancakes and a fried chicken salad. Upon ordering I was informed they had only balsamic and ranch available. I asked for balsamic only to get my salad with no dressing. The server said he would go make some then several minutes later another person came to tell me it was not available. The half of one chicken breast had barely any meat and was mostly cartilage. I returned my salad for a 3 vegetable meal and was charged for 4. My husband ordered collard greens as a side and received nothing. When brought to the server’s attention he brought back cabbage. The same half a of one breast in his order barely had any consumable meat. We were up charged for a breast and wing which is not uncommon however there was barely any meat.

Everything on my plate was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I truly hope they keep the “promotional bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer.” The flavor and texture of these plump and juicy shrimp made them the best bacon-wrapped shrimp I have ever had. I also love that you get 3 side dishes perfectly portioned. Cold beverages served in mason jars add the perfect Southern flair as well.

First Saturday brunch is always good with fresh, made to order omelettes and waffles. Not a bad option available, since you get to build the dish yourself 🙂
