Flora Indian Restaurant – What’s On Melbourne
Reviews
Their menu covers a wide mix of North Indian, South Indian, and even Indo-Chinese dishes, which is rare to find all under one roof in the CBD. The standout for me was the masala dosa — crisp, light, and flavour-packed. It’s exactly the kind of South Indian comfort food that’s hard to find in many Melbourne restaurants. For those who prefer curries, the classics like butter chicken, chicken karahi, and the vegetarian thali combinations looked generous and popular among diners.
Portions are solid, prices are fair, and the service is quick even when the place is busy. Flora clearly focuses on delivering reliable, tasty Indian food without trying to be overly stylish — and that works in its favour.
They also offer dine-in, takeaway, and catering, which makes it a flexible choice whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or planning something bigger.
Overall, Flora delivers authentic flavour, a wide variety of dishes, and great value in the heart of Melbourne CBD. For a first-time visit, it definitely left a strong and positive impression.
Flora has to be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with authentic Indian cuisine — far better than anything I’ve tried in Harris Park, Sydney. If you’re visiting Melbourne, you have to try Flora on Flinders Street. The food is incredible, bursting with flavour, and genuinely feels like true Indian home-style cooking. The staff are warm, friendly, and extremely accommodating, which makes the whole dining experience even better.
I went in and ordered a main meal with two curries for under $20, and it was delicious. The curries were rich, well seasoned and full of flavour, with steaming rice and fresh naan on the side that made the whole meal feel satisfying and comforting.
The restaurant has plenty of seating inside, so even during busy lunch hours you can easily find a table to sit down and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Being right opposite Flinders Street Station makes it super convenient for anyone stopping by the city for a bite before catching a train or starting the day.
I also loved that they offer South Indian favourites. The dosa was crisp and authentic, and finishing the meal with their paan was a great touch.
Overall, a wonderful spot for anyone craving flavourful Indian food. A solid four stars from me, and I’ll definitely be back to try more.
The taste may not feel fully authentic, but it’s still a good option for people who want to try Indian food and enjoy different flavors in one meal. Overall, simple, budget-friendly, and satisfying.
Ohona served our table. She was very attentive and listened to all our wishes with a genuine smile. Thanks for this beautiful experience .
