We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were crisp on the outside with a nice, stretchy pull—simple but well executed. The chicken parm was a standout: tender cutlet, well-seasoned sauce, and just the right amount of cheese. The penne vodka was comforting and rich without feeling overly heavy, and the bread they serve is the kind you keep reaching for without thinking. The only miss for us was the tortellini; the flavor profile was a bit off and didn’t quite come together the way the other dishes did. Overall, the prices were reasonable and we’d definitely go back!
The oil on the table was not good. It tasted like vegetable/canola oil of some kind and not an olive oil. It had red pepper flakes and that was really all you tasted, cheap oil and red pepper. The bread was pretty good. I also was suprised they gave diner style butter that was prepackaged. I was expecting some sort of whipped butter or even butter in a dish. It feels like they cut corners.
The calamari was okay. Not super seasoned.
I got the seafood scampi and it was so horrible. The sauce was completely watery. It did not stick to the noodles at all and slid right off so there was no flavour. It was not buttery or good at all. It kinda just tasted like garlic water. The crab meat also did not taste like crab meat at all, it was very fishy. The shrimp was okay and the scallops were meh. I know the sauce is a white wine sauce but it was truly just flavoured water not sauce. It did not stick to the back of my spoon at all. My boyfriend’s dish was similar and the sauce was super watery. The prosciutto was also extremely thick, the thickest prosciutto I ever have seen. It was very salty. Neither of us ate very much. We were very tired after a long day at longwood. I did consider asking the waitress if we could speak to the manager but because both our dishes were bad we didn’t really feel like the kitchen would give us anything we liked. I also did not see a manager or anyone on the floor that looked to be overseeing and we really didn’t want to wait longer because we had to wait a while for our food.
One thing that really stood out was the thoughtful service. When bread was brought out for the table, they brought me my own toasted gluten-free roll. That small gesture meant a lot. Usually I just sit there watching everyone else enjoy bread and olive oil, but this time I got to join in (I skipped the olive oil and used butter). It made the experience feel much more inclusive.
Great food, generous portions, and attentive service. If you’re gluten-free and craving Italian, this place is definitely worth a visit!
The service was fantastic- our waitress was super nice and really attentive, coming over to our table multiple times.
The food was delicious! It truly gave the sense of homemade and the portions are huge. Go with an appetite or be prepared for delicious leftovers. Our food was hot (temperature wise) and extremely flavorful.
If my family and I are ever in the area again, we will absolutely be eating here again.
