The milkshakes are amazing—on this visit I had the Salted Caramel Milkshake, and it was absolutely spot on. We also ordered the Red Door Burger and the Chili Pepper Burger, which were excellent as always—consistently well-cooked, flavorful, and satisfying.
We tried the Mac & Cheese with BBQ Beef Brisket, and while the portion was generous, it was overwhelmed by BBQ sauce, to the point where there was no cheese flavor at all. The staff handled it perfectly, though—we sent it back and ordered the Smash Burger Special, which was fantastic and more than made up for it.
Great food, great service, and a fun multi-level setup make Flip Side a place we’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommend when visiting Breck!
Fear and Loathing at Flat Side: A Savage Feast in Breckenridge
My dear reader, let me drag you kicking and screaming into the wild, grease-soaked heart of Flat Side, a culinary Valhalla nestled in the snowy crucible of Breckenridge, Colorado. This is no mere eatery; it’s a goddamn cathedral of flavor, a place where the soul is battered, fried, and served with a side of existential revelation. Five stars? Hell, I’d give it the whole Milky Way if I could.
It was a cold, cruel night in the Rockies, the kind that makes your bones ache and your spirit crave something primal. I stumbled into Flat Side, half-mad from the altitude and the whiskey, expecting nothing but another tourist trap peddling overpriced slop. But then—sweet Jesus—Garth appeared. Garth, the maestro of this meat-fueled symphony, a man with the grin of a benevolent coyote and the wisdom of a mountain shaman. He didn’t just take my order; he initiated me into a ritual. “Trust the burger,” he said, eyes glinting like a man who’d seen the face of God in a sizzling patty. And trust I did.
The burger—oh, the burger! A towering monument of beef, charred to perfection, dripping with juices that could make a vegan weep. It wasn’t food; it was a religious experience, a communion of flesh and bun that hit my soul like a .44 Magnum. Each bite was a journey through the American Dream—greasy, excessive, and unapologetically glorious. I saw visions of Kerouac and Cassady tearing down Route 66, fueled by nothing but burgers like these.
And then, the onion rings. Christ almighty, these weren’t rings; they were golden halos of crispy, battered nirvana. Each one crunched like the sound of a thousand angels stomping on the devil’s face. They were obscene in their perfection, piled high like some pagan offering to the gods of gluttony. I devoured them with a ferocity that would’ve made Hemingway proud, washing them down with a cold beer that tasted like freedom itself.
But the true revelation, the coup de grâce, was the crispy chicken sandwich. This was no mere sandwich—it was a weapon, a battering ram of flavor that obliterated every fast-food pretender in its path. The chicken, crisp as a winter morning, tender as a lover’s whisper, sat enthroned on a bun with accoutrements that sang in perfect harmony. One bite, and I was transported to a place where time stopped, where the world made sense, where the madness of existence was tamed by the simple perfection of fried poultry.
Flat Side isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a portal to a better America, one where the food is honest, the service is soulful, and the vibe is pure, unfiltered joy. Garth and his crew are the high priests of this greasy gospel, and I, for one, am a convert. Five stars? Hell, I’d carve their name into the mountainside if I could. Go there. Eat everything. And tell Garth that Hunter sent you.

The burgers were absolutely out of this world — packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Every bite was delicious, and it’s clear they take pride in the quality of their food. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend stopping in for a solid lunch or dinner. You won’t be disappointed!
Editing to add: We loved this place so much that we got it another time while we were in Breck! However, this time we had takeaway, and it was just as good as getting it in person. They actually put our toppings on the side so we could add them ourselves, which made the burgers PERFECT. The fries were also still warm and crispy, which I wouldn’t expect from takeaway. We will definitely be back if we are ever in Colorado again. It was absolutely delicious BOTH times.
