I was in the area last week and saw Flemington BBQ, so I looked them up and saw some really good reviews. Well let me tell you, they are really good! I had a fresh squeezed lemonade and a steak sandwich with fries. Outstanding! The owner and staff are very friendly and polite. I highly recommend Flemington BBQ. They have a simple menu with great food and desserts!

I was riding with my friend — we were out in Flemington, about 35 minutes from my house — when we caught this unbelievable smell of barbecue in the air. We literally did a U-turn and pulled into the lot without knowing where we were going. We just knew we had to eat there. It turned into a random magical experience — the kind you don’t plan for, but remember.
The place is called Flemington BBQ. I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries — huge portion. The pork was mixed with green peppers and onions, juicy and loaded with this deep, slightly sweet flavor I couldn’t quite pin down. Cinnamon? Cardamom? I don’t know — just magical. My friend had the grilled chicken and rice and couldn’t stop talking about how flavorful the rice was. Smoky, tender, perfectly done. This wasn’t just good — it was memorable.
And then there’s the lemonade. Fresh-squeezed right at the counter — I watched the owner, Paulo, press it himself. It was ice-cold, tangy, mouthwatering in the best way. He’s also the one who takes your order, checks in on your table, and genuinely cares that you’re having a good experience.
I found out Paulo’s been doing this for 35 years, and you can feel the love and pride in everything he puts out. Between the food, the warmth, and the energy of the place, this wasn’t just a lucky stop — I’m 100% going back.

One of the two BBQ restaurants that are listed when you Google “Flemington BBQ”. We visited this restaurant first based on a recommendation from family who live near the area.

Ordered a half pork ribs/half beef short ribs tray with rice and fries, and a calamari appetizer. Great food, the calamari had a nice peppery kick to it. We were even given a seafood soup sample while waiting, it was like a NY style clam chowder but not tomato based (very good). Take-out suggestion: if it’s a fairly long drive (ours was about 30 minutes) before eating and you order beef ribs, ask them to cook them either rare or medium since the residual heat from the rice will continue to cook it.

Friendly service, nicely decorated. It’s definitely Portuguese since there’s a Lady of Fatima shrine on the side. Definitely coming back when I’m in the area. I forgot to take photos of the food itself since we were so hungry after arriving home LOL

We were in Flemington for a travel soccer game and decided to eat here based on the reviews. We thought the food was good but the service was fantastic! Our waitress was a 10/10. She was friendly, kind, very attentive and accommodating. We would recommend!

This is my new fave restaurant. It’s family owned and they treat you like family. It’s Portuguese BBQ and its out of this world. Celebrated a friend’s birthday there and they surprised her with a birthday dessert and gave us each a glass of wine!

Hey its a BBQ so what you expect.. fine dining? Waitress / waiter experience was attentive. But who cares as the food is divine..expertly prepared fresh. So ignore the facade and feast on amazing meats and fish! I will be 100% back

I had the pleasure of dining at Flemington BBQ. I got the ribs lunch. Absolutely delicious. Generous portion, ultra tender ribs, some of the best I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend this establishment. You will not be disappointed.

1st I have never commented on another review but a reviewer recently stated the owner is not Portuguese based on his race???? Come on man….really, enough said.
Flemington BBQ offers large/huge portions of Portuguese comfort food. Nothing fancy, just simple very good food. Friendly service in a coverted gas station convenience store. Will definitely return.

We stopped at Flemington BBQ for a quick bite to eat and ordered the pulled pork sandwiches. I had my sandwich with peppers and onions and it was delicious.
The atmosphere is nice with a beautiful mural on the wall. My only criticism is that it was warm in the restaurant.
The service was excellent.

2/22/2023 Update. Flemington BBQ continues to be a regular spot for our family. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. As we have explored the menu I must recommend all of the homemade soups that rotate on a daily basis. The staff is warm and friendly and make you feel like family.
I was hesitant to try this place because the online menu does not provide much description but I am glad that I did because it was a great meal. I ordered the Chicken and Beef Cubes house style and it exceeded my expectations. Generous portions of beef and all white meat chicken perfectly grilled with some shrimp mixed in there as well. The meat was not dry, was not overly salty and had no sauce so the flavor of the meat came through perfectly. The protein was accompanied by yellow rice, some grilled peppers and onions as well as some pickled vegetables, black olives, a lemon wedge, french fries and gravy. I cannot speak to the authenticity as I have never had Portuguese food, but what I can say is that the ingredients were fresh, prepared with care and presented wonderfully. The addition of the pickled vegetables adds a nice crunch and texture to the meal. If you love charcoal grilled meats, appreciate fresh ingredients, generous portions and a clean and friendly environment I would recommend trying this place out. I know they opened during the pandemic and I hope they stick around for a while.
