I must save the rest of the World! Worst dinner I ever had from the quality of food to the service…it was all bad. Waitress sorted through my burger with her bare hands right in front of me to see if it had lettuce on it.The rest of my party shared some of their orders with me, food was barely edible. Probably a good place to go if you are on a diet though!

This place was great. Great food, I had fried pickles, fries, cheese curds, and a fried pork tenderloin sandwich. Everything was great. And the regulars that were in the bar made the experience even better. Great people. Had a great visit here. The prices are also amazing.

Went in with high expectations, but the food was blah, the service was rude, and the wait for food even worse. It was a Friday night at 5pm, and our waitress was clearly overworked, but when I asked for a refill she barked back at me about all the other things she had to do first. A simple “it’ll be a few minutes” would have been preferred. Everything was ala cart, and the fry proportions varied among plate. Overall, glad I live out of town, so I don’t have to come back. And hands down the worst food I’ve had all year… granted it’s only January 2nd 😉

Funky historic bar and grill. The new owner is a really hospitable and kind named Ben. Good home made food. Delicious homemade made desserts. Get their homemade French dressing for your salad.

We were in town running some errands, had never been here before, thought we’d stop in on a local restaurant. We got there at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and the dining room was not opened but the bar section was open for dine in, but you could only get sandwiches, you couldn’t get an entree or a platter. So my wife ordered a breaded tenderloin, served on white bread, and I ordered what is called on the menu, a Steakburger. To start with the breaded tenderloin was a small round frozen thing, nearly tasteless. My Steakburger wasn’t a whole lot better, in fact I am not sure it was better at all. They had a choice: you could order a cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, or steakburger and then add cheese for 25 cents. I ordered the Steakburger, it was big and thick and I had great expectations, until I bit into it. The taste was not bad, but the texture was just almost unedible. I don’t even know how to describe it. It had a dense texture and weird in the mouth. It seemed like they compress the patty so hard, trying to make it into the illusion that it was a piece of steak. The fries were crinkly fries, the small thin kind I like. The service was friendly, the place was old and a little crammed up with cases of beer sitting everywhere, so I don’t know, I wouldn’t try it.

My family and I stopped in during a long road trip, and we were so glad we did. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming—thanks to both the friendly staff and the kind customers.

No, it’s not a 5-star bistro or high-end steakhouse—but that’s not what it’s trying to be. What it does offer is a well-executed menu that stands confidently on its own. Everything we ordered was prepared just right and hit the spot.

To anyone leaving less than five stars, I’d suggest doing a little research and setting your expectations accordingly. For what this place aims to be—and achieves—it deserves full marks.

I’m from a very small town (less than 450 people). So, everyone there knew each other by first name and we got some strange looks when we walked in, no big deal. We are out of place tourists. I get it. Everybody there was drinking and one guy had a cigar in his mouth. Again, I’m from a small town just like this. Didn’t bother me at all. Just want to paint a real picture of the place for those traveling reading this. Service wasn’t bad. It wasn’t over the top, but wasn’t bad by no means. But, the food, the food was awful! I mean awful. We drove to this place because we were tired of eating holiday world theme park food and I wish we would have stayed and ate at the theme park because surprisingly the theme park food tastes gourmet next to this place. I think our big mistake was although it’s advertised as a cafe, this is a bar. But, even with that I’ve had good food at a bar before. My burger tasted just like one of those microwave $1 box burgers. The breaded tenderloin was clearly from a frozen freezer package and it was served without a bun on plain white bread. $7.50 for that alone! The French fries & cheese curds were edible b/c they went through an air fryer. We hadn’t eaten since breakfast so we struggled through everything, but this place sits at the top of the list of worst tasting cafes in North America. I love supporting local and always try to eat at one of these places when traveling but I really regret stopping here. I can’t believe I’m admitting this but we hit the McDonald’s drive through on the way back to Santa Claus just to get the taste out of our mouths.

Hiked a few miles at nearby Ferdinand State Forest, made a pit stop here on my way home.

Asked for the chili but was told they weren’t making it that day so I was offered noodles instead. Excellent choice. Tasty, hot, served with crackers and a cold beer, perfect after a long walk. Friendly staff too. I look forward to my next visit.

Our family came to town for Holiday World and everyone was so nice and very prompt. They let us know about the area and also that they were going to have a festival that weekend. The food was great! We were able to bring our kids in and everyone loved their dinner. Price was fabulous!
