We visited to pregame and grab a bite before catching Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It didn’t seem that busy – at least not busy enough to explain the chaos we experienced.
The system was down the kitchen backed up in our poor server was flummoxed to say the least. After their POS crashed and lost our order we turned it into a take away order and it took three attempts to get our missing items and make our order complete
The soup of the day was gone before we got it and as good as it sounded on the menu, we ended up with a chili substitute that seemed ready to put on a Coney dog. Management was apologetic and even comped us and we made the show on time.
We’ve heard such wonderful things about this place we’ll definitely give it another try.
The atmosphere held strong and the Christmas decorations were fun and inviting saving the experience. We will definitely be back for a second chance and hope it was just an isolated incident, perhaps for our first visit being in the holiday hole.

If you’re looking for some of the best wings in Columbus, look no further. Found this place online after a quick search for wings. The wings were so good, I actually went back a second time in less than a week. The vibes were typical bar vibes, the service was better the second visit but the food was great both times. We tried the Mac n Cheese, wasn’t bad at all but nothing that I’d order again. The wings are what I went for and I’d recommend those as a 10/10!

We ordered takeout which was not ready when we arrived even though the website said it was ready. They had our food out on the counter while they waited for the last item so all of the food was cold by the time we got it. The description of the Mac and cheese was misleading as it is very spicy and I got the bottom of the bag of the tater tots and more than half of the “tots” were crumbs. Overpriced for the food. I definitely would look elsewhere for food.

Stopped in for a quick bite off their happy hour, was encouraged by the hype the staff had for their philly cheesesteaks. The food just didn’t hit the spot. Service was very slow as it seemed just to be just one bartender servicing the entire space.

I ended up eating here because my hotel bar was unexpectedly closed and I also wanted to watch football. They have ample TVs and sound with a few other game and lottery entertainment options. It’s a tavern so I was expecting regular bar food but they have a few fun twists on the typical variety. My food was really really good and properly portioned too. I don’t know if it’s considered a “local” bar but it had that vibe. Everyone was friendly and it had a neighborly feel.

I stopped in at Flatiron Tavern on a Thursday evening around 5:15 before the Blue Jackets game, and it was busy! We managed to snag the last available table, but they mentioned they were down a server, so it was a bit hectic. While we were eating, they were letting people know there would be about an hour and a half wait, so I’d definitely recommend getting there early if you can.
Despite the rush, the service was solid. Our drinks were refilled promptly, and the food came out in about 30 minutes from when we ordered.
I tried 4 different sandwiches:
* Flat Iron Philly (Ribeye, Habanero Pepper Jack Cheese, and Veggies): This one was quite spicy, maybe even a bit too much. The heat overpowered the flavor, and I usually love spicy food.
* Flatiron Cuban: Also very spicy, again overshadowing the flavor. It was tasty, but I’d have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t so intense.
* Patty Melt: It was good but pretty basic. Didn’t have much flavor, and it ended up being my least favorite of the bunch.
* Club Sandwich: This was the surprise winner! Really delicious with a great flavor combo, and I’d definitely return just for this.
Overall, I’d rank the sandwiches like this:
1. Club Sandwich
2. Philly
3. Cuban
4. Patty Melt
I’d definitely recommend Flatiron Tavern and will absolutely return to try more. Just be prepared for a wait if you come during peak times!

We ordered pickup through their website and walked over from the hotel next door. Over $25 in food was missing from the order, when I went back it took 20+ minutes to get the main item and they left the side out of the second order as well. The wings were fine but nothing special, the wrap was average at best, and the desserts tasted days old and were NOT good.

One star is not low enough for our Flatiron Tavern experience. We had stopped by for dinner, a drink and to watch some of a playoff game after working a booth at the convention center. The place was busy but we found a table in the back. At some point after no waiter showed, I went to the bar to order drinks. I stopped at a station near a bartender who had apparently mastered the art of not making eye contact. After waiting some time I moved to another station where a bartender was busy but still found time to wait on me and get us our drinks. He assured me that a waiter would be along in the back to take our order. Sure enough after I returned to our table a waiter had been by and dropped off menus. We worked out our order but when the waiter returned we were informed that we would have to move as this table is reserved. I asked how I would know that as there was no sign or any indication and other people were just setting down when they found a spot. That apparently didn’t matter. I asked, “before you evict us where are you going to put us” to which there was no answer other than you have to move. Normally if a restaurant/bar is reserving tables there would be a host stand asking to wait to be seated (there wasn’t) or maybe they put a note on the table (they didn’t). Apparently if they decide they need the table for more desirable clients they just kick you out. As were we’re being removed from our seats we saw them flushing out other people from their spots as well so we were apparently not the only undesirables.
However the story has a happy ending as just a half a block away at the Vine and Forge we walked to the host stand with a sign saying, “wait to be seated”. In very short order the hostess showed us to a table. An attentive waitress got us a drink, and took great care of us while we had a very nice dinner and watched some of the game.
I can only assume that whoever was managing at the Flatiron that evening really was screwing up. I’m not from Columbus and business likely will not take me back so losing my business isn’t going to affect their bottom line. But, if they continue to treat customers as we were treated there a good chance that in the future there will be lots of empty tables to choose from

Ate outside on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Motz sticks were fresh, beefy and perfectly fried. Smash burger was tasty and bountiful. Server hustled and kept my glass full as I consumed a gallon of ice tea.

We stayed at the Red Roof next door and chose this place strictly by location. Glad we did! Great little tavern in a cool old building. Excellent bar food and a fair priced cocktail menu. The patio atmosphere is a 10 and the servers could not be more pleasant to the patrons. 3/4 of the patio got seated at once and the two servers flew around and took care of everyone with smiles on their faces. Smash burgers were 10/10. Add the shoestring fries for $3, delicious!
