Really good food and service! I had the Nashville hot chicken and waffle, the salmon avocado toast, and a cucumber mint lemonade. Everything was very delicious. I definitely want to come back to try more dishes. If it’s nice out, ask to sit out back. They have a really nice/cool outdoor section behind the restaurant.

Absolute hidden gem for brunch – our favorite spot in town! Great for large parties too, we’ve walked in with 12 of us before on short notice and gotten seated in minutes. Never a long wait. Huge variety on the menu and everything we’ve had is fresh & flavorful. My favorite is the Mexican Omelette (pictured), honorable mentions are the breakfast burrito and berry pancakes. Friendly staff, fast service, and a great vibe overall. Almost hesitant to post this review because we want to keep this our low-key brunch spot, but Flapjax is too good not to share with the world! You won’t be disappointed here.

Even though I live close by, I somehow missed this Santa Monica diner, and I’m so happy I tried it for my first time this past weekend. It’s not the traditional retro diner, think more so a breakfast restaurant with a huge menu filled with all sorts of classic and new dishes. I find the most diners focus on just classic dishes so this is a bit of a hybrid. They have indoor and outdoor seating, the outdoor seating is in front and a covered patio out back. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot, but parking is really easy to find in this part of town. We were able to be seated right when we arrived for a 10:30 AM Sunday brunch and our server was extremely polite.

As mentioned, they have a huge menu that is filled with all sorts of options so it took all of us quite some time to decide what to get. For my first time I started off with a Cinnamon Roll and thought it was absolutely fantastic. It’s large and fluffy and really hit the spot for a great starter. For my entrée, I chose the Flapjax Breakfast Plate and upgraded my pancake to the Maple Glaze. That pancake was extremely delicious with caramelized banana, maple, and bacon on top. It was truly delicious and a great treat.

Overall, a fantastic breakfast place that I will certainly be back to soon. They truly have a ton of options so it’s a sort of place you could go to frequently and get something new every time.

The was breakfast food here was good but could use a bit more taste to them. Service was quick within 20 minutes everyone got their breakfast. The smash burger wasn’t smashed and it just tasted a bit bland but other than that it was fine. The interior of the restaurant looked nice and it looked like a modern diner that would be in LA.

This is one of the best places for brunch, hands down! We LOVE the apple strudel pancakes! They also have a delicious assortment of drinks in case you’re in the mood for variety with your meal. Just found out about it like 3 weeks ago, we were drawn in by the colorful menu boards when an older couple told us that this was one of their favorite restaurants. I didn’t really need convincing because the options were pulling me in but after our first visit we understood why they were so happy to give us the recommendation. We’ve been back about 5 times already.. and counting. The vibe is very down to earth and the staff is friendly and happy to help. Amazing garlic fries. Fulfilling frittatas and a charming Chai Boba ✨

UPDATE JUNE 2025
Fantastic place for breakfast, brunch or lunch! Vast menu! My friend and shared the Potato Pancake Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and the new menu item: Chicken Red Curry Rice Bowl! These were both delicious! I took most of the red curry chicken bowl home for later!

Patio seating in the back is dog friendly! Inside there is AC, but the noise level gets loud.

Every time I come here the staff and food is excellent!!!

For those who are familiar with Bru’s Wiffle, you will get both menus here, along with the same wonderful staff!

$22 endless Mimosas, Wed-Friday!!! I need to check that deal out! Yes!
UPDATE Mid November 2024
When you can’t decided on a savory or sweet breakfast/brunch, bring a friend and share!

We ordered the crispy brioche French Toast which comes stacked HIGH and drizzled with fruit and yogert sauce. We also ordered the salmon bagel!Splitting these two dishes was perfect!!!

Service was ON POINT and 5 Star!

Every dish I have tried here has been delicious and nicely presented.
UPDATE, Mid October 2024:
I love love love their Smash Burgers so I went back a week later! My friend and I had the Double Smash burger and fries.

For dessert we shared a slice of the Cinnamon Roll which I photographed, but my photo doesn’t look great. The creamy topping has just the right amount of sweetness and the cinnamon roll is soft and gooey so this is a nice combination!

October 2024 updated review:

Recently I tried their $9.50 Double Smash Burger with a side of Truffle Parmesan Fries. This burger was BEYOND Tasty!!!! I am craving it now as I write this review. I also tried their $9.50 Crispy Chicken Burger with the Korean Gochujang Sauce. This sauce makes it spicy good! I wasn’t able to eat this crispy chicken burger with my hands, so I used a fork and knife and it was fine.

The Truffle Cheese fries are easily shared with the burgers. This special added menu is the BEST Bang for the BUCK.

March 2024, updated review:

Recently I came here for lunch with a friend. Maggie, our server, recommended a few of their new items, so I ordered the Kale/Cabbage/ Jidori chicken salad in a chimichurri dressing.I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS!!!! I am craving it now, as I write this review. If you like lemony dressing, you will LOVE this salad.

My friend ordered the mushroom crepes with 2 eggs along with a cucumber lemon drink. She really enjoyed her meal and drink too.

The service here is ON POINT. There is a nice protected patio in the back, dog friendly.

Metered street parking or free parking on the side streets ( read the parking signs carefully).

Thank you Flapjax, our meal was fantastic!

I love the variety of dishes here!
The cucumber mint lemonade is freshly pressed and so refreshing! The Arnold Palmer is made from their house made lemonade and freshly brewed tea.

I also like the Mediterranean Faro Salad made with julienned cucumber, greens, faro and more. I would order this again!

We ended our meal with one of their house made banana chocolate chip muffins! This was very moist and so tasty, we came back again the following week! My friend quickly ordered 4 of these muffins TO GO.

Here is my review from my first visit to Flapjax:

I ordered the menemen – peppers, jalapeno, fresh tomato sauce, cumin, eggs, crispy tofu, feta
which is a wonderful savory dish, like Shashuka. It is a generous portion and I took half home because I was so full! I heated up later for lunch and it as just as yummy!

My friend ordered the Portobello basil pesto eggs benedict – crispy bacon bites, citrus arugula

We started our meal with the Yuca Chips Appetizer in aioli spicy sauce. THIS ROCKED!!!! We both loved this and could of each had this as our entire meal.

Thank you Maggie and the staff at Flapjax!!!

I came here with friends for a delicious brunch. The food is good, I ordered special brunch that comes with pancakes, sausage, bacon, and fried potatoes. I also ordered chocolate cake.
Pancakes are really good, they also smelled super good. Other food is actually average lol. Potatoes and bacon are kind of over cooked. Chocolate cakes were also very sweet.
The service is excellent. We had to switch out seats couple times because we first wanted to sit outside and realized that it was too cold and switched back indoors. The staff happily helped us switch seats. We also first ordered strawberry cake, but when the staff realized that they were sold out, we got two chocolate cakes in exchange.
It was funny that the chef also made extra pancakes and we got it for free.

Soooo good, an absolute must visit! We discovered Flapjax when looking for a good brunch place to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and will definitely be back, even though we live in Orange County! The servers were friendly and quick, the food was absolutely delicious, and even though we were there during Sunday brunch, it never got too crowded to be comfortable and relaxing. From sweets like pancakes to savory sandwiches, spicy potatoes, tasty smash burgers, and unique drinks, Flapjax was amazing! They treated our daughter like a princess, and after all of that, they even waited an hour after close for us to return when we realized we forgot a cellphone there. In LA, you can find a nice atmosphere and good food anywhere, but you don’t always find people who actually care. From the owner herself to everyone on staff, Flapjax made us feel like we belonged, and that’s why we’ll definitely be back!

Flapjax Diner is a perfect place for breakfast, lunch, and especially brunch. When at Flapjax Diner, you must try their fluffy, delicious pancakes, from original pancakes, to Oreo pancakes dressed with white chocolate sauce, they are all delicious! My meal was the chocolate chip pancakes, which I finished in seconds, and fresh potatoes surrounded by peppers giving it a nice kick. Flapjax Diner is a perfect and I mean perfect place to start out your day in Santa Monica, you must come here.

The Flapjack Diner in Santa Monica is a hidden gem! They have the cutest diner atmosphere and the food pancake menu is just pancrazy delicious. This morning I went in to grab a quick cup of coffee before heading out on a walk and they didn’t have tap. I was about to leave when someone came running out, offering to give me the coffee for free, just so I’d come back again. I really appreciated that kind of old-school hospitality. It really made my day! Thank you flapjax … see you again tomorrow!
