It was such a nice surprise after a long, tiring day. The food definitely hit the spot too ️ — flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what we needed to recharge. Overall, it turned out to be a great experience, and we were so glad we chose this place for lunch. Sometimes the best finds are the unexpected ones! ✨
We had the Pork Fried Rice meal and the Hot Braised Pork with Steamed Rice meal. Each came with a starter of soup (Egg Drop) and an egg roll. The soup was good. It had a good consistency and flavor. The egg roll was fine. Very middle of the road.
As for the meals, the Pork Fried Rice actually tasted “fried” and I really enjoyed the larger pork pieces in it. Sometimes places like to skimp on the meat portions in fried rice, but not here. My husband got the Hot Braised Pork and it was very tasty. The sauce was excellent and the pork was not dried out after being fried. He only did 2 stars for spice this time, as a test, and we both agreed that we could go to a higher spice level next time.
We will definitely back. As our first restaurant experience in Bondurant, this was a great start!
I got the Kung Pao Chicken, hot and sour soup, and steamed rice. The entree was so drenched in oil it was very hard to enjoy the meal. The flavor of the food itself was very mid.
The soup was so thick it was almost a paste consistency, also incredibly oily. The meal came with a very small cup of white rice, which was the star of the meal.
I will not be going back.
We placed a good sized (5 entree) meal, along with several appetizers tonight. Portions were good-sized and it was prepared quickly.
The shrimp fried rice was the BEST! The pot stickers had a lot of meat in them and were SO good too!
They even helped me load the bags into our vehicle!
These Altoona residents will be going back for more! 🙂
My husband and I tried pan-fried pork dumplings and the lunch size serving of orange chicken with steamed rice, egg drop soup, and egg rolls. The orange chicken had a nice crunch to it as well as some spiciness. The egg drop soup was peppery with little pieces of carrot and corn in it. I would order both of those again! The pork dumpling appetizer was okay but not the best I’ve had in the area. These dumplings are fried only on the bottom and not all the way around.
I will definitely be back to try out more of the menu!
PS For the gluten intolerant folks: while we were there, I did hear someone ask about gluten-free options. Unfortunately they are unable to guarantee there is no gluten cross-contamination.
However not a bad place to eat. The food was really good and the service was impeccable.
My wife ordered the Sesame Chicken and I ordered the Beef and Broccoli and we ordered Crab Rangoon as an appetizer.
Each meal comes with an egg roll and a cup of soup. All the food was delivered rather quickly.
The egg rolls and the Crab Rangoon came out right away. The egg rolls were great, the Crab Rangoon were rather lacking in the stuffing department. What was there had great flavor but you were mostly eating the wrapper. The soup was delivered a short time later. The Egg Drop Soup was awesome. Flavorful and full of vegetables.
The meals were next. My wife enjoyed the Sesame Chicken and it was a huge portion, my Beef and Broccoli was very good, although it was considerably a much smaller portion.
Overall, very good and we will return.
