I have been craving curry for days, and today I finally got it. I chose this place and it was lovely! It is a small little restaurant but the atmosphere is very nice. When I walked through the door I was enveloped by the calm welcoming atmosphere. I ordered yellow curry (I believe it was menu option either C3 or C4), and was asked which protein I would like. I got fried tofu (which was done perfectly). I waited for no longer than three minutes and then was served my food. I took one bite and melted at how good it tasted. The vegetables were fresh, the curry wasn’t too spicy but still had some kick, the potatoes were soft and flavourful…I ate while listening to the acoustic/lyrical music and watching cars drive by. I ate half and took the rest home. I finished it off while writing this review. I will be bringing my partner to eat there with me some time soon! I hope to someday frequent enough to become a regular.

This place deserves every five star review it gets. “Hot” set my hair on fire and there are two full levels beyond that. The cashews were crunchy, the chicken was flavorful, the onions and scallions cooked just right, but above all was that warm and then fiery flavor of the Thai chilis. “Medium” is for people who normally order “very spicy” at other restaurants. “Hot” is enough to not need a hat walking outside in December.

I have frequented Thai restaurants across Oakland County and Metro Detroit, and this is by far my favorite lately, with perhaps Thai Bistro in Canton as a serious competitor, and they are now closed.
The ingredients here are fresh and well prepared. I’ve tried the noodle dishes, several of the curries, and a few of the fried rice choices. None have disappointed. The “Build Your Own” menu is a delightful addition to an already stellar list of entrees. The spring rolls are crispy and delicious, and come in vegetable, chicken and pork varieties.
Flaming Thai is primarily a take out venue. You can dine in, if you choose.
Service is surprisingly fast. Portion sizes are generous. This is a solid win.
Take note, however. The name is accurate. “Mild” here is the equivalent of “Medium” at any other Thai restaurant, and the “Medium” is hotter than the “Hot” at many other Thai restaurants. If you are a heat lover, and you can’t find food hot enough for you, this is your place.

Ordered takeout from the place. The food (Curry Fried Rice) was prepared really well and the hotness perfectly matched to medium. The ambience can be a little better but not much of a downside if the food is great. The service is also fast as I received my order within 5-10 minutes of placing the order.

I came in after work with a take out order for two and it was ready within 10 minutes. The pork spring rolls were ! I was warned that their Medium was like other restaurants’ Hot and they meant it! They do have a small dining area, but I think take out and delivery are their primary focus. We just found this restaurant and will be coming back!

A one star review, specifically for the water. Water is $2.50 for a bottle of Dasani. They have no other way to get water. I have a personal objection to this type of service, thus the one star.
In addition, this is setup like Burger King, you go to order at the counter. You pick up your silverware and chopsticks, and bus your table. Signs are everywhere informing of these policies. And they hit you for tips at the counter. I’m not sure what service we are tipping for?
The good, they were playing Thai music on a TV – kind of fun.
I had the BYO meal. It’s a “build your own” meal process. This was pretty good. I had Thai basil with chicken and red curry and eggplant. it was nice. The heat level ordered was medium and it was pretty on-point. She had the catfish. Huge disappointment there. It seemed like the catfish was fried at noon and reheated in the microwave. Soft and soggy, now what you’re looking for in a fried catfish meal!

I liked their limited menu on the weekends. I got a pad thai and their limited Na Von (a Thai dessert). The pad thai has no flavoring, but the chicken kapongs must try. The thai nava, I was expecting it a but more sweet, but that’s okay. I tried chicken pad thai, Nava, steam rice rolls, fried rice with sausages, and chicken kapong. To my surprise, it was interesting having to put away your own dish in a bin that’s provided in the front. It’s something new that I don’t really see at restaurants.

I ordered the mild plus pad ped & it was quite spicy, but good. If you’re not hip on spices, go mild or w/ the no spice option. The shrimp was a little overcooked & rather scarce as was the overall portion. But, not too bad for Thai carryout in Troy.

Flaming hot had sooo much charcoal taste in and it tasted like i was easting ash. The food smelled like a charcoal pit cooled with water.
Very bad customer response.
Charcoal and hot peppers two different ingredients.
Poor customer service.

Just like a Thai joint ought to be, informal atmosphere, fast service, and good spicy food.
This place is a little on the spicy side relative to other Thai restaurants in the area, so take that into consideration when you specify a spice level.
