Most important note:It is inside Truist Plaza in the food court area. I haven’t had a good surprise in some time;that is until Flaky not Flaky knocked my socks off. Their chocolate Caramel espresso sconut is amazing. Im an espresso girl thru and thru but their cofee is really good . Also their sourdough sandwich is delish.

Run by a husband and wife duo, we originally went because my husband was attending a conference and it was advertised to stop by for a special treat if you show your badge- which the wife part of the duo wasn’t aware of but she just gave us some truffles which was very nice still! (I can’t speak for the chocolatarium side very accurately but the truffle- or maybe it wasn’t a truffle- that we got just tasted flavor wise and texturally just like regular bar chocolate that had been melted and formed into a ball, nothing super special.)

The real winners here are the sconuts which I was also wondering what that would be like because I usually consider scones to be pretty dry and not enjoyable to eat. However, these were super moist and flavors were great. We got the lemon curd, German apple pancake and sea salt caramel. The owner said she normally only does the more wintry flavors and wouldn’t have the lemon curd, strawberry (which we didn’t end up getting) and sea salt caramel but decided on a whim that morning and I’m so thankful because the lemon curd was my favorite flavor. Texture-wise it was more soft and moist than a cake donut and had a nice thin layer of sweet glaze. As far as donuts go I also prefer raised or yeasted donuts so but I really enjoyed these. The German apple pancake had great flavor throughout while the sea salt caramel was good but probably the most plain out of the options we got. The caramel flavor was good but only really on the top of the sconut, the rest of the sconut tasted the most plain. The sconuts I felt were well balanced and not overly sweet by the level of salt used.

I also got the matcha honey and oat latte and while I could taste the matcha and honey I thought it tasted a little watery and not creamy enough. One sleeper pick (for me) as a sweets person was the ole world biscuit which I felt like had a great balance of sweet and savory- the sausage was super snappy, the gravy wasn’t too heavy but just added a creamy and umami element, the apple butter added the right amount of sweet hits. The biscuit was soft but had a crispy, crunchy on the bottom which added another texture contrast. The only thing I found was that it was hard to eat so the fork and knife provided was a big help.

The service was also super friendly and so pleasant. Loved chatting with the gals and probably would become a regular if I was a local. I also loved that the owner went so far as to ask which sconut looked the best to me or tried to pick the “best one” for me.

The only thing we wished was different was that it wasn’t in a food court area, we thought that it would do even better in a standalone brick and mortar but obviously there could be a myriad of factors that play into why this might not be the case.

Overall, had a great experience and I wished I had a sconut right now!

This is my second time trying the Sconuts at “Flaky not Flaky” and they do not disappoint. They had just opened this location when last we visited, but thankfully if anything they’ve only gotten better.

The blueberry sconut was moist and wasn’t overly sweet. The s’more sconut was absolutely delightful. I wish the marshmallow was a little melty on the inside, but still added to the aesthetic as well as including the pop of marshmallow goodness needed to bring it home.

We also tried some of the chocolate mini-bars that were filled with a pistachio praline sort of filling and a nut crusted bar that had a chocolate mousse like filling with more finely chopped nuts. The chocolate was beautifully tempered and again, wasn’t too cloyingly sweet. Also, this chocolate is sourced from a family farm in Venezuela and the quality shows. After conversing with the owner, I asked if they were like Dubai chocolate and she said, “No. they don’t have the phyllo dough” and I was like, “Oh! So they’re ’Not Dubai Bars’”.

If you’re looking for something not overly sweet and just a tasty treat that’s a little different than everything else, come on down and give Flaky not Flaky a try.

Came here during a mid morning break from a conference at Marriott Marquis, and the scouts were sold out! I placed an order for the original and lemon curd to be picked up the next day. I brought them back to Houston and omg, they were delicious! I wished I had gotten more. I also got some chocolate clusters and the baklava chocolate. Excited to try them. The owners are so friendly as well.

Wonderful experience for a food court. Tasty fresh sandwiches and hot coffee. We had to try the chocolate and yogurt for dessert. Take the elevator to the bridge level. The proprietors are extremely friendly and helpful!

Once again we stumbled upon a hidden gem. Flaky Not Flaky is family run business consisting of mum Anna, dad Miguel and son Gianni. The mini team of the best bakers EVER.

This is a true labour of love if mum is at the shop at 2am! That’s dedication for you as all items are freshly made and it shows! The Sconut….is a genius idea. If you want to try something with completely unique flavours then this is your place.

I ordered the Caprese Croissant. Which consisted of a fresh baked croissant, fresh mozzarella, Flaky’s famous basil sauce, salted tomatoes and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Sounds random but it’s super delicious! I could eat this all day, every day!

My partner had the Cinnamon Iced Sconut and Medium Drip Coffee. He loved his Sconut and mentioned that it’s the best pastry he’s ever eaten.

Thank you for taking the time for a chinwag! I loved hearing about your passion to provide special and delicious pastries. You’re killing it!

It’s a shame I am leaving Atlanta otherwise I would have tried many more items. This will be a good excuse to visit Atlanta again…

I read some reviews where people were confused as to where this place is…so I’ll attempt to make it easier.

Travelled to Atlanta for a work trip and knew one of my new leaders would be attending the meeting. I don’t know him very well, but what I do know is that his favorite cake on this planet is carrot cake. He loves it so much that he actually knows which restaurants sell the best carrot cake in every city that he travels to. That being said as a surprise, I wanted to find the best carrot cake in Atlanta and bring it to my team meeting for him. I searched around Google to find the best bakery with the best carrot cake and Flaky Not Flaky popped up as hands down best cake. I called her to place the order, but was informed by the owner that they stopped making cakes about six months ago. After hearing my story what I wanted to do for my new leader, the Owners, a husband and wife, duo, decided to make the cake for me! Not only did they make the cake and have it delivered to my hotel prior to my arrival, but when I say it was the best cake I’ve ever eaten, I am not even close to exaggerating. My leader was blown away by the thoughtfulness of this company, and confirm that the cake was indeed the best carrot cake he has ever eaten as well! Thank you Flaky Not Flaky!

We stayed at the Hyatt downtown and found this place within walk-able distance from the hotel. It was a bit hard to find, located within the Truist Plaza. Take the elevator to BL where they are located within a really beautiful food court/business space, and their displays are top notch! The owner was so kind and greeted us right away after seeing our “what should we get look” on our faces and gave us great suggestions. We got the Mr. Crunchy ham/cheese sandwich, heated up to a nice flaky tender crisp! And also a strawberry and a chocolate sconut, both of which were moist, tasty and had the perfect amount of sugar — not the curl your toes level of sweetness many donuts and scones have. The coffee was strong and flavorful, and the pineapple lemonade was delicious – sweet tart. We didn’t get to try to beautiful looking chocolates, made from chocolate sourced from Venezuela, but we will come back the next time we’re in downtown Atlanta! I did try calling the business initially when I couldn’t find it, but after we left, I got a text they were sorry they missed my call. When I texted back and asked if they ever change flavors, they said they do and have other awesome flavors like key lime – so you should check their instagram page for more current info! Such a responsive owner.
