When we arrived we were told that first time visitors get a free empanada. Wow! These empanadas are fantastic. Stuffed to the brim brilliantly made and bursting with flavor. I ordered the Typical grilled meat platter with yellow rice, chimol, black beans, plantains, chorizo, and beef rib. My wife order the fried red snapper. The skill and professionalism of the kitchen shined bright on our table. All of our food was cooked exceptionally well. The flavors were reall something to savor. We will be back and order piles of those empanadas, enough to take home and enjoy. This restaurant has a limited selection of drinks. But, get past that and bask in some truly wonderful Honduran cuisine. You won’t regret it.

Super flavorful and unique offerings with excellent service. This is not Tex-Mex but truly South American cuisine. Three of us ordered and shared many items and they all were outstanding.
The bathroom was super-clean, well lit and spotless. We spent many years in the food industry and are very critical of any restaurants, yet we Highly Recommend you try Five Stars Honduras !

Authentic Honduran food! Amazing! My best friends wife is from Honduras and we all went together. It’s the best Honduran food I’ve had since Honduras ! The owner is from Honduras, very kind, great service, nice environment. The price was kinda steep (especially compared to Honduran prices. Lol). It’s like $15-$20 a plate but very filling and full plates. Service was kind, quick, they speak Spanish and English

Visiting from Chicago and wanted to try out some Honduran food ( my kids are Honduran) came across this spot and it didn’t disappoint at all the Baleadas were 10/10 the flavor was so good and they were huge! We also had the plantains and those were also excellent. Highly recommend this place if you want to try real authentic Honduran food.

With a place called Five Star Honduran food, the food better really be 5 stars. And here, it actually was! I have never tried Honduran food, so it was my first experience, and it was amazing. I would love to go back. I tried the Nuegados De Yuca Con Miel (cassava with honey), plantain, a pupusa de queso (cheese flatbread), and an empanada.
The empanada was the only item that I thought was just okay. It was pretty average. A little too hard on the outside, and the moisture in the container led it to being soggy. The beef was pretty well seasoned but dry. It was also served with a tasty, fresh salad, which had some cheese on it as well. It was mostly lettuce, though.
Now, the pupusa was out of this world! It reminds me a bit of a cachapa if you’ve ever had those. Cheesy, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Simple but very tasty. And, it’s served with some tasty pickled vegetables that add a nice crunchiness. The sauce it’s served with reminds me a bit of marinara as well, it’s quite good. Definitely recommend, and I’m sure the bean stuffed one is even better.
The plantain was the best plantain I’ve ever had, and I am a big fan of sweet plantains. It was absolutely humongous and very sweet. A tad oily, but not especially so. Genuinely very good, and soft too. It was served with what I think is sour cream, and that complimented it really well. Almost tasted like plantain with ice cream.
Finally, the cassava with honey, that was an awesome dessert. I would say that it tastes like gulab jamun with a chewier texture. Soaked in tons of sweet syrup, touch of something like cinnamon, and overall, just very very good but also extremely sweet.
All in all, I loved essentially everything from this place. It’s an excellent introduction to Honduran food, with awesome prices and incredible flavors. I highly recommend this spot!

This was our first time trying Honduran food and it did not disappoint!
We ordered to go, but the interior of the restaurant when I walked in felt like a summer day on an island with beautiful paintings and clean tables hand-painted with the 5 stars.
We ordered the “typical meat platter” and coconut shrimp, as well as an empañada. I think being closed in the steamy to-go container really softened up the fried plantains, which is too bad because the flavor was lovely, they were just missing a little crunch. Again, I think that’s just because it was in a to go box.
The chorizo was delicious with a spicy kick, the steak seasoned so amazingly! The rib meat was my least favorite of the three, but it was still really good.
The coconut shrimp comes in an orange colored, creamy sauce that was delightful, and the shrimp were plump and juicy and not overcooked.
The empañada was also delicious, with a simple ground-meat filling, but also ended up a bit damp from the to go box’s steam.
All in all, I recommend this place as an eat-in meal for the full flavor experience.
