Ribs were fall off the bone and the sauce is addicting. The dirty burger might be the best burger I’ve ever had in my 36 years of living. Cobbler is a must. Affordable as well.
Janet was my server both nights and she lays on that Oklahoma charm better than anyone. Empty plates were cleared quick and I wasnt able to completely finish my beer without being asked if I wanted another.
The place seats around 100 but I didn’t see anyone waiting more that 10 – 15 minutes, probably because the food is so damn good.
My pricing is with 3 beers and apps
Five star has left an impression insuring I will be coming back anytime I’m near.
Thanks again Janet!!!
We were served by a lovely waitress named Katie who was very delightful and attentive to our table. I’ll be bookmarking this place if I ever pass by the area again. As a local Austinite, raised in Texas most of my life- this was QUALITY and affordable BBQ! The people of this town are lucky to have a gem like Five Star BBQ & Steakhouse and a cute, bubbly waitress like Katie to serve and keep customers satisfied and happy! One last thing- the restaurant is exceptionally clean and cozy.
The Food: Hickory-Smoked Favorites
The Ribs & Brisket: The St. Louis-style ribs are a standout, often described as “fall-off-the-bone” tender. The brisket is available both sliced and chopped; the sliced version is lean and smoky, while the chopped (minced?) is perfect for those who like their meat well-marinated in their signature sweet-and-tangy sauce. The Ribs are where it’s at here. The chopped brisket is finely chopped – A little to fine to our taste.
All-You-Can-Eat Catfish: On certain nights, they offer a cornmeal-crusted fried catfish that rivals their barbecue. It’s light, flaky, and served with traditional hushpuppies.
The Sausage: a strong recommend from me. Was a little dry but the taste was on point.
Sides: I didn’t really have anything stand out on the sides. The plate that I ordered had traditional sides and they were adequate.
The Atmosphere: Family-Owned Hospitality
The restaurant is run by founders Grant and Jennifer, and it’s common to see their children working alongside long-time staff.
The Vibe: The interior is rustic and “country-cool,” featuring plenty of wood accents and a casual, relaxed energy. It’s a popular spot for community gatherings and travelers looking for a reliable pitstop between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
Drive-Thru Convenience: One of the unique features of Five Star is its full-service drive-thru, making it one of the few places in the area where you can get a high-quality rack of ribs or a steak dinner without leaving your car.
Service: Reviews frequently mention servers like Jana or Sage, highlighting a level of attentive, friendly service that makes visitors feel like regulars.
Pricing & Value
Price Point: It is very reasonably priced for the portion sizes. A standard two-meat dinner with two sides and Texas toast usually runs around $16–$18.
Daily Specials: They offer rotating lunch and dinner specials that provide excellent value, often featuring “meat and three” style combinations.
The Verdict
Go if: You want a classic, family-friendly Oklahoma BBQ experience with generous portions and a wide variety of meats and “homestyle” sides.
Skip if: You are looking for a “gourmet” or experimental craft BBQ experience (like burnt-end tacos or fusion flavors). Five Star does well with the traditional fundamentals.
Local Tip: Save room for the Peach Cobbler. It’s served warm and is often cited as the best dessert in town—but it sells out quickly on weekends.
I’d rather support these mom n pop type of restaurants rather then the big chain places…
As I walked in I got greated by two smiling waitresses who told me to sit wherever I wanted and gave me a menu then informed me of the special… I wasn’t sure what I wanted so started browsing the menu and another waitress walked by and treated me as well and told me that the catfish special was her favorite, so I tried it and let me tell you she wasn’t wrong plus it came with two unlimited sides that I could mix up…
Looking forward to driving by again so I can try something else on the menu…
Keep up the great work
