The food is great but WHY AM I STILL PAYING THE SAME PRICE? I’m not ordering with a human. Why would I tip?
This is off. I don’t like it and after this purchase, I will not be coming back.
The top CEOs at this chain are probably giving their employees less hours and hiring less employees. The top people are still making bank and people below are not making a livable wage.
Disappointed, I am so disappointed.
I really hate to give bad reviews, but this one is a borderline health advisory. And, yes, I would give zero stars if I could.
We just ordered two burgers from Five Guys Sarasota (Tamiami/Stickney Pt.). At $10 for a burger, you may think that you get something at least edible, maybe even appealing in taste or presentation. But not at Five Guys. Believe me when I tell you that the actual product you are buying is nothing like the photos. You will get a greasy, burnt, and squashed burger in aluminum foil, that – at least in my opinion – is not fit for human consumption. No one should be forced to eat black burned food, regardless of price or location. No pride of workmanship, no pride of ownership, no love for the product. I did not dare to feed this to my family, so I took it back. The manager did refund my money (sidenote, they did keep the tip ;D) on the basis that the burgers were burned beyond salvation, which she saw, but she was borderline dismissive about the squashed and disgusting presentation as a whole. She told me that this was Five Guys Standard (what a joke) and shrugged off my suggestion to use cardboard or paper instead of aluminum foil for the sake of conserving resources (and possibly helping the appeal of their products) by pointing a corporate policy. Fine, I’m not going to save the world or keep landfills smaller by fighting corporate myself, but what this conversation was missing entirely, was empathy, understanding and acknowledgement. So I got my money refunded, and yes, they do keep the original receipt and refund slip – again, citing corporate policy. I wonder why? Fortunately, the receipt is in the attached picture, in case anyone from Five Guys Corporate ends up taking ownership for their product or the people that they have running their franchises. I did give their corporate office a call about my experience and am waiting for a response. I’ll certainly update my review if I hear anything from them (I have little hope), so my recommendation stands: There are three other burger places at the same intersection with better and more appealing food, as well as more committed employees, at half the price. Go there, avoid Five Guys in Sarasota and save yourself the disappointment and the money. It’s a lot of show and story about how great their food apparently is, but little substance at a premium price point.
