Fitz’s Delmar

Social Profile:

It all started in 1947 when the first Fitz’s Root Beer was served at the original Fitz’s drive-in on Clayton Rd. After disappearing for years, the original recipe was revived in 1993 when Fitz’s Restaurant and Bottling Company opened in the historic Delmar Loop. The restaurant found it’s home in the renovated Delmar Bank building, built in 1928, and had an antique bottling line from the 1940’s refurbished and installed to maintain authenticity. The unique Fitz’s formula features fine ingredients including select natural roots, spices, barks, and is exclusively sweetened with all-natural, pure cane sugar. Although most famous for Root Beer, we have expanded to 19 mouth-watering craft soda flavors. Check us out on Instagram @fitzsrootbeer.

Fitz Delmar was a fun spot to stop and eat with a good friend. Our server explained the soda, Sundays/Floats and the favorites. We started with the Gooey Looey; butter cake, caramel, chocolate and vanilla ice cream with whipped cream over cream soda. Definitely worth trying and eating before the main course. We also ordered the Jalapenos Ranch burger, they cut in halves and split on two plates for us. A good choice if you like a little heat.
Bathrooms are clean, there are two stories of seating, if lucky you will see them bottling the soda made right there from 1940s equipment.

What a great experience. Glad that we had reservations are may have waited a few minutes. Everyone there was great from the hostess to our waiter. Would highly recommend visiting this place. Also took home desserts the Gooey Butter Cake and Apple Crisp, very delicious they both were.

This was an incredibly fun, yummy place to grab dinner. They were pretty busy for 3pm on a Saturday but our party of 4 was seated in about 10 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The burgers were yummy but the floats were out of this world and the root beer the best we’ve ever had. This is a great place for the whole family.

My first time here and it was great. I had the st louis BBQ burger and the Gooey Louey, of course majority of the burger had to come home. It was big and flavor was great but I had to save room for that float. Oh my goodness. Needless to say as yummy as it was I couldnt finish that either. The waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was great. I love the factory inside the restaurant that was definitely one of my favorites. Oh and of course I have to add the homemade root beer was delicious one of my favorites. (I always order homemade/ house brewed root beer when it’s available. Fitz was in the top 3 of my favorites)

This is what nostalgia taste like. This restaurant is fun and a great place to escape when home visiting family for the holidays and you’ve grown tired of turkey. Don’t bring your New Year’s resolutions here. Now when I get a bottle of Fitz‘s at Pops on Route 66 in Oklahoma, I’m reminded of the lovely times we had here.

Was in town for a tournament and stopped here with the kids afterward to celebrate. I can’t believe I found a restaurant with smiley fries- my kids were super excited. Also, the root beer floats were so good but ginormous. I’m happy they offer the option to split them, it was the perfect size for the kids. It was an upcharge but so worth it, rather than buying an entire extra milkshake that would be way too much for them! Joey A was our server and was very attentive and made great recommendations. Will be back again next time we’re in town!

We usually stop in at the Fitz’s on Lindbergh… however today we were in the Loop area and had lunch at this location…

Our waitress was great… the food good too…

The decor is different at this location offering a more antique type feel… which we loved…

Ordered wings and side salad and a burger. The wings alone are $20 which isn’t a problem when done correctly. My wings were one minute from being burnt. Hard and inedible. Looks like they’ve been sitting awhile. I live quite a bit away from there so I’m not driving back

I’ve tried this place a few times. I have really liked the salads here. Wanted to try the meatloaf but they were out. On a separate visit, they were out of ice tea. Didn’t like the Chili mac. It’s more of a pasta mac and cheese dish.
