Staff were inattentive.
I understand that this was a very busy afternoon, Saturday 7th March, but it had appeared that there was no clear plan of service.
Five or six staff members attended multiple tables, ours was ignored. I had to ask eight different members of staff for a jug of water for the table before it finally arrived.
I had to wait thirty minutes for my main to arrive after everyone else at my table had theirs. When I asked when I could expect it, I was told I had to wait longer.
I asked the head of the party to order the Goats Cheese Crostini, as I was arriving later. When it finally did arrive it was tiny. Barely the size of a starter.
There was more Rocket garnish on the plate than the actual order. Which felt like either overcompensating or passive aggression.
Asked for a manager, who explained that this dish comes in two sizes.
I had asked if the server had made this clear to the person ordering, the manager said no.
I then asked if it was ordered as a mains, to which she replied yes. I then asked if it was logical to assume it would be in the same proportions to a main meal.
I was offered a dessert as compensation, when advised that this would not be acceptable, I was then asked did I want to offer my compensation to anyone else at the table.
While we stayed for one more drink, no one had dessert.
Poor service from an otherwise great spot. Very disappointed.
I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and i wasn’t disappointed. The food was very good and so was the Guinness and it was really nicely decorated for Halloween.
I will go back when visiting Dundalk next time.
Food is exceptional with large portions, the chowder is spot on, but don’t go past the steak .
There is a mini farm and the place is always setup for Christmas, with S NTA onsite for the kids.
With the amount of old memorabilia everywhere, I would suggest a wooden or tiled floor. Much easier to clean. I’m convinced I was bitten by something. Not once but a number of times. I ended up putting my legs out to the side which was fairly uncomfortable, but a lot better.
We left as soon as we were finished eating . Maybe I should have said something to our waitress but she was a lovely girl and I felt there was nothing she could have done.
I do have to say the flowers outside were really beautiful
