I had a great experience at Fitzgerald’s Hotel and Restaurant in the Keweenaw. I had actually seen this place featured in a YouTube video in the past, and while driving by recently, I recognized it, turned around, and decided to stop in. I’m very glad I did.
Amy and Evan were outstanding hosts from the moment I walked in. Both are born and raised in the Keweenaw, and it shows in how proud they are of the area and how well they represent their community. Their local knowledge and genuine hospitality really set the tone for the visit.
I sampled one of the Michigan craft beers from their well-curated menu of less-typical, off-market brews and was impressed with the selection. I hadn’t planned on eating, but Evan convinced me to try the brisket nachos appetizer — and that was the right call. They were excellent.
Beyond the food and drinks, the dining experience itself stands out. The full wall of picture windows overlooking Lake Superior makes this a truly special place to sit, relax, and enjoy a meal.
Fitzgerald’s is a real hidden gem in the Keweenaw, and I would absolutely recommend stopping in — whether you’re local or just passing through.

We came here for dinner while on vacation. We were seated right away, we did have a reservation. The staff was amazing, informative and friendly. They go above and beyond to get you information if you have an allergy.
The food was amazing!!!! We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. Everything was rich and cooked to perfection.
Also, the atmosphere was amazing. I loved being able to stand out side and see a million stars.

So close to the snowmobiling trails, so worth the stop! Delicious food, kudos to the chef! This is way more than just a line cook meal. Atmosphere is scenic overlooking the lake. PS don’t skip dessert

Fitzgerald’s was a recommendation and it didn’t disappoint! We were there on a very blustery Wednesday recently and had a 4:45 reservation. We were seated promptly, served the cocktails and appetizer (hush puppies) that we ordered. For dinner, my husband chose the brisket and had the garlic undo noodles with mushrooms. Both were delicious! Service was friendly and prompt, atmosphere was relaxed, considered fine dining as it should be but we noticed people were not stiff or stuffy – a very local feel. Prices were as to be expected for this menu and portions were perfect. Be sure to make a reservation as there isn’t much of a waiting area. Easy to make a reservation on their site. Thanks, Fitzgerald’s – we hope to be back!

⭐️Unassuming delightful place set on a Lake Superior pink rocky beach. Cozy knotty pine
interior with a gorgeous view!
Chef uses local produce and fish. Walleye Cakes were . Garden Caper salad was perfect. We enjoyed the hush puppies and Mac and cheese too. Staff is sweet and professional.
Just go!!
Added bonus is the scent of ubiquitous evergreens permeating the Keweenaw fresh air.

I came here on the recommendation of several people who said the food was spectacular… They were right. We got the pulled pork and the brisket with macaroni and cheese. Also, we had a nice salad to start. I encountered a very helpful and friendly member of the kitchen staff that went out of their way to pack up my to go order, however, I think the bartender might’ve lost site of the fact that she is in the hospitality business. That’s said, I would definitely return. Strong recommend.

I randomly met an insurance rep who spends months on the road and takes customers out for dinner regularly. He’s ate just about everywhere in the UP. I asked him what his favorite place was in Keweenaw and this was his answer without hesitation.
I have been here twice now and he is right on. Best views, best food, best bar, best atmosphere. It’s upscale to an extent but still approachable. Reservations are a good idea but they accommodated me without one.
This is maybe my favorite waterfront dining experience ever and I’m not trying to overhype it but there isn’t many paces you can sip a cocktail on Lake Superior while watching the sunset.
The brisket was

I have been wanting to dine here for more than a decade. I finally made it, and even with all the anticipation it did NOT disappoint!! The small sample of food we had was world class. The Poutine was perfectly done, the Hot Nashville Chicken entree, was superb. The chicken was juicy, and had a healthy amount of heat more than most establishments are willing to flavor IMHO, and it was amazing. They were gracious enough to host us for a walk-in, and sat us at a table with an active reservation in 1 hour. We were going to be quick regardless. Our young child would have us out the door well before that, life as a parent, IYKYK. The food was excellent and didn’t disappoint. I didn’t have the opportunity to taste more than a 4/5 oz pour of beer, but the full bar and selection looked terrific. I don’t know when I will be able to make it back. Dallas, TX is a journey, but I look forward to again this being an anchor to that next journey. Thank you to all the staff for their hospitality and amazing work chef!

We had a wonderful dinner with our family here, which is not uncommon for us when we frequent Eagle River. Our server, Joe, was outstanding. We veered away from our typical favorites to try their brisket chili and Jeremy’s lasagna. Neither disappointed. Thanks!

Wow! This was an amazing discovery for the Upper Peninsula. Every table was booked. So glad we sat at the bar. Liz was a master of mixology and a superior server. The selection of beers and whiskeys was something you’d expect in a major metropolitan area. We ordered lamb meatballs as an appetizer. The salsa on the lamb was lightly spiced and perfectly balanced the meat. We were very impressed. I had smoked prime rib that was among the best I have ever had. The light smoke flavor added a special dimension not typical to this cut of meat. My wife ordered their very flavorful brisket. I bet their desserts were fantastic but we couldn’t eat another bite. We come to the Keweenaw every summer. We are adding this to our repertoire. See you next year.
