Made it to this take out place just before closing. Thankfully they had one lobster roll and some clam chowder both were delicious. We also really enjoyed the haddock sandwich. Fresh and tasty. Go early to avoid disappointment.

My first three experiences with this place was great; all three were during the same stay in Maine. I left loving every item on the menu- from the juicy clam bites to the “just got caught” lobsters in my buttered roll. I came back from that trip swearing off all NY joints and raving to my friends about it.
Fast forward to a year later, and having detoured off course en route to Montreal, I found myself wondering why I even stopped here. The lobster meat was overcooked and ended up having a tough, rubbery texture. There were no clam bits to be found in my clam chowder. The shrimp rolls were sprinkled with so much pepper it was hard to taste much else.
Keep in mind, I had spent a total of $500 at this restaurant. That’s definite support and driving 5+ hours is dedication. Though the food was still quite fresh, I wouldn’t be able to recommend it to any more people. In fact, I’ll be retracting the “Best Seafood” title until they get their act together- if I ever give them another chance, that is.

This is the fist time ever posting, but could not resist after the experience I had. I was travelling to Maine to visit my kids at camp and searched best lobster rolls in Portland. Fisherman’s Grill came up, so I thought I would give it a try. Let me say, I am glad I did. The ride from Boston was over 3 hours with the traffic, so lets just say by the time I arrived I was agitated and hungry. I come to find out that they were closed. I tapped on the door, and it was open, and the owner Michael said they were closing as they were just about out of food. I told him about my trip and how I was looking forward to eating there. He invited me in and said that he might have enough for1 or 2 lobster rolls. I would come back just for the fact that he opened the door after he was closed !!
The lobster roll was delicious, I had the classic, which was over 2 lbs of lobster meat, not heavy on mayo and on a perfectly toasted bun. He had 1 bowl of chowder left and even threw in some free fries. We sat outside on the picnic bench and enjoyed a delicious traditional Maine lobster Roll…NO frill, just simple and delicious. I have told friends about it and will be back. Thanks Michael.

Best Lobster Roll.
I ordered the classic lobster roll and split it between two people. The bread was toasted just right. The lobster was in a lit mayo sauce with a sprinkle of pepper. Just the right amount of flavor.
The owner was really nice. He mentioned that during tourist season the lines are ridiculous.
CASH ONLY!

Excellent Lobster Roll. It cost about $23 for a Lobster roll and clam chowder, but it’s absolutely worth it. Overall the guys behind the counter have a great attitude, and even though it’s a bit pricey they give you your money’s worth.
I took out one star since they don’t serve tap water because of something about their water filtration system. That’s not a deal breaker for me, but it seems like something a restaurant should be able to offer. Also I was a little disappointed that they’re cash only and they don’t mention that anywhere on their website so I would’ve been kind of stuck had I not seen some random review somewhere that mentioned it.

Yes, the jumbo is a good deal if you split up the lobster into two rolls. Well, better deal anyway. The actual lobster is fresh and nice, though again, the taste isn’t necessarily the best in town. The seared scallops, though? Perfectly fried, though a bit salty.

I love this little hole in the wall. I got the Lobster Roll, which was a pretty classic take on it. Hot buttered bun and fresh lobster seasoned with salt and pepper, coated in warm butter… Yum!
The pan seared sea scallops were to die for and were perfectly cooked. These things melted in my mouth. I would come back for these alone.
The staff was really helpful and quick to offer recommendations as they have a few different versions of their lobster roll and scallops.

It’s a hole in the wall that you might even accidentally drive past while looking for it because it’s not huge, but it’s absolutely the best seafood you will ever eat. I was a little skeptical about going there because it really looked super small (I wasn’t even sure if there were places to eat there – turns out there are a few tables), but the reviews were terrific and we weren’t looking for a “Ritz Carlton” type atmosphere. We just wanted some incredibly fresh and delicious seafood. I got the lobster roll (Connecticut Style – so served warm with butter on the side) and it was in fact the best lobster roll I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’ve had so many, but this one stands out as the best. It was PACKED with lobster, but the lobster was easily the freshest, most tender, and best tasting lobster I’ve had. It came on a perfectly grilled “hot dog” roll and sat on a bed of lettuce. It was extremely hard to eat, but that’s only because it’s overly packed with lobster. That did not seem like a problem to me! Drizzled the hot butter over it, and it was as close to heaven as I’m going to get. My GF got the award winning (we found this out via the award they have on the wall next to our table) Fish and Chips. She said it was the best Fish and Chips she’s ever had as well. I tried it, and I have to agree. There is something to be said for having seafood that was literally swimming in the ocean a few miles away just a day or two before. And that’s what this place serves up. And the owner, Mike, really took care of us. It was our first time there and I’m sure he knew that. But he took care of us like we were 20 year regulars. As we were throwing our trash away, he said “might want to hang on a second, I’m making something up for you guys”. We weren’t sure what it was, but based on the food we just had, we wanted to wait. About 4 minutes later he came out with a plate of fried dough bites covered in cinnamon and sugar. Not only was that a super kind gesture, it was absolutely delicious. We then ended up talking to Mike for about 15 minutes about Portland, the business, and his family. It was truly a GREAT experience. I’ve been to very fine dining restaurants in my life and I will tell you this, I’ve never had a better meal or experience at any of them. I couldn’t recommend this place more. Go in, ask for Mike, and tell him people are raving about him and his restaurant online!

Nut shell; Tried to go for 3 days at reasonable times and was always closed or sold out. I get that places cook what they have and then close but seriously do you cook like 3 lobsters a day? It’s just a bummer because we came to Maine for this specifically and were unable to even have the chance at experiencing it. We chose Portland over other costal seafood destinations like Boston based on this place, may be dumb but we love lobster. All I have to say is your info online should reflect your EXTREMELY short hours and EXTREMELY limited product. Huge disappointment… wish I could give no stars.

The lobster rolls were run of the mill okay but not amazing -which made our meal way overpriced. The buns were good initially but they got so soggy that it was inedible before we were halfway done.
