My fiancé has been talking about going the fish and whistle for a few months now.. We finally went. It was a very comfy, cozy and the staff was very friendly. She got the “Petite fish & chips ” and I got the chicken sandwich! Both orders were perfect! The batter they use for the chicken sandwich was very tasty and different! I loved it and the chicken was juicy! I am already looking forward to going back! Her fish and chips were perfect! Very fresh and juicy as well! We will be back ! Highly suggest! I met one of the owners and unfortunately forgot her name but she was very friendly and thanked us for supporting their establishment .

This place is everything we hoped for and more on a girls trip through New England! We ate our meal backward & started off with Salted Vanilla soft serve ice cream topped with caramelized bread crumbs- insanely delicious! 4 of us shared a full fish (made up of 3 petite fish [pictured] due to us showing up shortly before closing and them being sold out. We were informed of this up front.) The fish was light & so tasty. Their tartar sauce was unique with a fantastic dill flavor (huge fans!!!) Malted fries were very good & served with mayo. We mixed their amazing curry sauce with the mayo & devoured them.
I was a fan of the ginger brew- super strong ginger taste. And lastly we got the apple beignets. They were shockingly small, HOWEVER what they lacked in size was outweighed by their melt in your mouth taste of heaven. Absolutely delightful and the custard dip was wonderful.
Highly recommend.
Also, is the owner single? He was humorous and so kind and we’d like him to marry our sister.

Such a cute little place! A perfect coastal place for fish and chips. Service , Fish , Coleslaw , Tarter Sauce , Fries- Delicious!! Seriously so good! Fish was thick and flakey! And NO heavy oil flavor or feeling that may come with a low quality fry.

In the fall of 2024, while visiting Portland, Maine, we had two distinct culinary goals: to find the best fish and chips and to enjoy lobster in multiple meals. Happily, we accomplished both! The best fish and chips we found were at Fish & Whistle, discovered during a day trip south to Kennebunkport. Fish and chips is a go-to menu item for my wife and me, and having tried it at many places, we can confidently say this was the best we’ve ever had. Even a year later, we’re still raving about it! Unlike the common fish tenders served elsewhere, Fish & Whistle offered a large, perfectly fried piece of fish—crispy throughout without being oily, striking a delicate balance. They also had an impressive beer selection that day. If you’re in the Portland area, I highly recommend venturing south to enjoy these fish and chips, which are generously portioned—perfect for sharing, as we did.

I’d heard this place had the best fish and chips in New England. It was certainly the best I’ve ever had, absolute S-tier. The fish was moist, flaky, and generous. The batter was light and crunchy. And as if that’s not enough, they even have a Guinness float on the menu. I wish I lived across the street, I’d eat there every day and probably die young but very happy.

I had a friend tell me about Fish & Whistle and his recommendation did not disappoint! Five stars…and the best fish and chips I’ve had in all of New England! We called ahead for seating and they were very accommodating and had a table ready for us when we got there. Even though it was after 6:00, they filled up pretty quickly. The fish batter was extremely crunchy and the fries were great! Additionally, the twist dessert with the caramelized peaches and bread crumbs were totally off the hook! I would highly recommend if you are in Biddeford or nearby that you stop in and visit this gem! We drove up from the north shore of Massachusetts and we will definitely be back!

This place is ridiculously cute inside think cozy coastal vibes with soft lighting, nautical touches, and little vintage details that make it feel homey without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place where you want to linger a little longer, just because it feels good to be there.
The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth fresh on the inside. You can actually taste the difference, it’s clear they don’t mess around when it comes to quality. The chips? Golden, fluffy, and just the right amount of salty. I could go on, but honestly just try them and thank me later.
It’s not just good service, it’s that relaxed, genuine kind where you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time walking through the door. If you’re craving classic fish and chips done right, in a space that feels like a cozy hug, do yourself a favor and swing by.

Went in thinking about grabbing a quick bite from a counter service joint. I got some of the best food I’ve had in a while. A value at twice the price for the Fish Sandwich and the Chowder had so much flavor and so much fish it was almost a meal.
Smart choices all the way down to the lettuce, bun and homemade tartar sauce.
This place kills it!

I got the “half” plate of fish & chips and their ice cream with caramel topping. The “half” plate is big enough for a single person. The food was good.
There could have been more fries. Beer is like a $2 an ounce, so don’t bother ordering any. Seating is limited, so know that you might be waiting for a table
