Small country cafe. Great food. They have a steam table that offers fried chicken, CFS, about 8 different sides. I had a cheeseburger and onion rings. It was cooked to perfection. The onion rings were made in house not the frozen kind. My friend had the chicken fried steak and it was as big as the plate. Very casual atmosphere decorated with antiques on the wall. Service was great. Go try it out

The pic speaks for itself. The only reason it only has gravy on one side is because I knew I couldn’t finish it. Brought the extra gravy home for when I get to finish it for supper.

My husband and I decided to try the place after hearing reviews on how big the chicken fried steak was. It was a Saturday at 6 and there were about 5 tables eating. Waitress was prompt in serving us. Food was good. Will stop in again if we are back in town. We were in and out in 40 minutes. Salad bar hit the spot with pickled okra and the pasta salad was so good!

The burger was very good. For $9, I can’t remember having a better burger any time recently. However I was told they have an award winning Chicken Fried Steak. I was just in the mood for a burger. I will definitely be trying the chicken fried steak next time. I also had the fried boudin balls and they were pretty good. Not my favorite side I’ve ever had, but still pretty good. They are very large and filling. The service was very good as well. According to the waitress all the food is homemade. They also have an extensive dessert choices, including apple pie, banana pudding and blackberry cobbler to name a few. The parking is a little tight when it’s busy and if you drive a large truck (like a crew cab long bed) you will have trouble parking. Overall it’s a great place. The prices are very reasonable for homemade food.

Peak, as my daughter says. I have eaten at soooo many home cooking places over the years in several states. I’ve made my husband stop at tons of places claiming to have good pie. None of them has a dog in the hunt compared to this place. The homemade chocolate pie was seriously like my husband’s Nana’s. The chicken fried steak was tender; the green beans were yummmmm. My husband had the fried squash and we shared a plate of the hand-cut fries (which was what sold me on this stop). No offense to Tomball’s offerings of Mel’s and Goodson’s, but they just aren’t it. The real deal is outside of New Waverly waiting for you to eat your fill!! Oh, and shout out to Sharon for the being an awesome waitress and bringing the pie out first!! ❤️❤️

We ate breakfast here and it was amazing! We ordered the Rusty Skillet and the Country Boy Breakfast, and there was so much we ended up taking home even after our stomachs hurt from eating so much. I love places that have reasonable portions, so this was a nice refresh. Service was amazing on a Sunday in rush hour too. Will definitely be back!

I would say this was the cleanest fried food! Meaning it was light and crispy. Clean tasting. Not oily!! We had the Cod along with the Catfish. Our sides mashed potatoes w/ white gravy, Mac n cheese, cornbread, and the most delicious onion rings! Everything was so good!
Service was fast, kind and attentive. Very affordable for such large portions. Definitely could share. We left full without the bloat most fried places give you.
