I was in town on business and met a friend for an easy bite to eat. This is a gem in the FiDi area. No frills just show up and enjoy the food, a drink and chat with a friend. Service was casual. Our food came out hot and quick.

I didn’t try the food. Great old timey looking dive bar. Even though this bar is located in South Street Seaport, which tends to have a lot of tourists, it isn’t touristy at all. The service is good. The prices on drinks is great, specially considering the area. You also get a shot of Jameson, on the house. I might come back and try some food.

Hands down one of the best home style Thai restaurants disguised as a dive bar. Friendly service and if you hang out long enough you’ll get a free shot of whiskey. The ginger wings were cooked to perfection so juicy and tender.
Tip: to open the front door which has no handles reach for the top corner and pull.

This feels like authentic NY, I felt quite unwelcome and got asked for ID even though I’m 48. And that’s why I enjoyed my time here thoroughly and would love to come back when I have more time, no pretentious small talk, it just is what it is, a dive bar to have a few drinks and watch some sport.

Fish Market isn’t just a bar—it’s a New York institution. Fourteen years ago, I’d finish long shifts tending bar nearby and find myself pining for this place, not just for the drinks but for the atmosphere and camaraderie. To this day, it remains one of the city’s most authentic nightlife staples.
The drinks are inexpensive without ever feeling cheap, the food is outstanding, and the value is unmatched. Order the combo platter and you’ll discover what regulars already know—the chicken fingers aren’t your standard fare. They’re perfectly pounded, breaded chicken cutlets, crafted with the kind of care that’s become a hallmark of Fish Market’s kitchen.
What sets Fish Market apart is its culture. Jeff, the owner, and his wonderful mother running the kitchen have built more than a bar—they’ve built a legacy. Their warmth and authenticity radiate through the food, the energy, and the people who gather here. It’s no surprise that after a decade and a half away, I returned to find the same contagious spirit, still vibrant and still drawing crowds.
As a former bartender, the highest praise I can give is this: Fish Market was the bar I wanted to go to after my own shifts. Fourteen years later, that feeling hasn’t changed. It’s still the place where service industry workers, locals, and visitors alike can unwind, connect, and feel part of something real.
If you want a true New York experience—where the food is worth every penny, the drinks flow easy, and the atmosphere is second to none—Fish Market is it.

Loved this dive bar! Adam was a fantastic host and we had a few shots together. Mama’s Fried Rice is AMAZING! I will definitely return when I visit NYC again. Getting in was hard because the door does not have a handle/knob. Find the top edge of the door to open it.

All I came here for is the oysters and it didnt disappoint. It was fresh and the taste was spot on oyster. Enough for my seafood craving!
The bartender was very friendly and quickly took care of us as soon as they opened. I am sure the rest of the dishes here are also good.

I walked by Fish Market probably 100 times since I’ve lived in the financial district. Many of my neighbors and friends told me about the place but I never went until recently. It’s now absolutely one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. The staff are incredible, the food is amazing and the free Jameson shots make me happy. I love the variety of the menu and the fun atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Possibly the greatest dive bar in the entire city! It was packed for college football when I was there. The Jack and Coke and Jameson was flowing. The ambiance was fun, controlled chaos. And the owner, Jeff, was behind the bar making sure all were having a good time too.
The “Drunken Fish Soup” looks great for hangovers and colds. Need to get me that again soon. Good times were had by all! Most definitely coming back again soon
