I recently had the pleasure of dining at this soul food restaurant Fish & Chikzzz, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The cornbread was simply divine, perhaps the best I’ve ever had! Dexter, the owner, epitomizes hospitality—he was incredibly nice, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal, making us feel truly welcomed.
My favorites of the evening were the shrimp and collard greens, which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Not only was the food outstanding, but the ambiance of the restaurant was also delightful. The environment was warm and inviting, and the music added the perfect touch to the overall experience.
I’m already counting down the days until my next visit—I can’t wait to come back and enjoy another delicious meal. It’s always a bonus when it’s a black-owned business the experience is even more meaningful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for exceptional soul food and top-notch service!

This place did not disappoint. Let me tell you that half lemonade half iced tea is amazing. Do yourself a favor and add a tequila shot to it. The jumbo shrimps are really good. My husband made the mistake of ordering the 6 count. They are addictive. My husband expressed that he should have ordered the 12 count. My 6 year old who doesn’t eat shrimp ate shrimp that day and kept asking for more. To add to that they have the best cornbread I’ve ever had. It’s so moist and warm. My son had the chicken legs with fries. He loved them. Of course I took a piece of it. That fried chicken was so flavorful, crunchy and juicy. We met Derek who is just a ray of sunshine. He is so personable and probably one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. His smile and attitude is just infectious. Stop thinking and try this place out.

I attended a dinner party that was catered at this location over the weekend and the host planned to have a full meal including baked & fried chicken, fish, shrimp, macaroni & cheese, collard green and yams with iced tea or lemonade and cornbread on the side. It has nice music playing over the speakers and a comfortable setting for a large group of people to be seated.
Our party was set up for groups of five to go up to the counter to get a plate and this unfortunately, was a super slow process. We stood there for a long time waiting on food that was supposed to be hot and ready an hour prior but it wasn’t. No one told us what was going on for a while and we just stood there and waited. It seemed a little disorganized. Finally, They had us sit back down while they warmed the food back up. Only one person got a plate of food and that was cold too.
When the rest of the group finally got their food, it was just okay, cold, and some of it wasnt seasoned enough. All of the guests ate their food, but we all felt like it wasn’t hot enough and just needed a little more love put into it.
The man in charge was really nice, but upset the host when he originally ensured her that everyone would get large plates of food and have plenty for seconds. Only one person tried, it was the birthday boy and he tried to get a plate but was turned away and told there was no more food left.
Overall, we made the best of it and had a nice time, but it may not be the best choice for a party. I hope they can improve things and do better for the next person who secures them for an event.

I ordered the chicken and fries, and the whiting sandwich, only drawback for me there were no sides everything was fine as I went late in the evening.
After reading the reviews I ate the chicken really carefully because they says it was still red inside, not mine it was done well fries were good and I finished all the sandwich and saved the rest of the food to go. I had a piece of cake too funny think it was homemade but it was still good nice piece of carrot cake.
I’m going to guess people probably has some bad experiences looks like the business replied back and asked the people to come back so they can make it right. I’m any case I’m gonna come back I wanna try the macaroni and cheese and those yams and the rest of the sides.
Overall nice little spot 30 minutes drive or so for me. I wasn’t disappointed I’d say people should give this place a shot.

This place is diamond rated from the food to the service. Everything I guarantee everyone should go here and experience what I did. I would definitely go back. It’s not just a place, it’s more family. I guarantee you would love every single thing. That’s on that menu. You must go to this place. It’s amazing.

This place is incredible. Not just the food, and the price being extremely fair and GOOD the Hospitality felt at this place is like a reminder what a restaurant is supposed to be. It sincerely felt more like being someone’s guest over for dinner than a customer. Dexter is super accommodating, and a 10-star chef. Best restaurant I’ve been to in NY. Best fried fish I’ve ever tasted. The 90 minute trip to go back is already in the works and we went this week . So good, you can not regret coming here to give it a try
