I would say that the monkfish and pancetta was overcooked and dry, probably a one off, as all the other dishes were great.
Would recommend this place if you get the opportunity to try it, or why not actually make the opportunity, book, and head out there.
Service was A+ very attentive and friendly. cant fault it.
Food was also amazing, went for some different options and wasn’t dissappointed – As shown in the photos – Great flavours and pretty fast turn around from ordering.
We also had cocktails and they were A+ aswell, great to see service wasn’t hindered by it being a Sunday.
Great placement on the highstreet + parking was a very short walk.
Really positive first experience- Will be visiting again
Fish dishes and dessert were all really good, and I’d definitely come back again.
I found that the food that was going round the tables was thoughtfully and creatively presented. My food when delivered to the table was well presented but not imaginative compared to some of the other dishes. The food did not deliver, it was very low in flavour and the chips were of a poor quality. The desert I had was tasty but it didn’t stand out. It seemed like a mid tier restaurant with ambitions of being higher.
The service was faultless. Waiters and waitresses greeted us both with genuine smiles at the door. The smiling service and genuine interest in our welfare continued throughout the meal. They checked on us and checked to see if we had been happy with our meals.
I didnt enjoy the atmosphere, I found it very basic. There isn’t much in the way of a strong vibe with little decorations and basic tables. The decor fits a village fish restaurant but does not reflect the amount of money that is spent there. They could do more to upgrade it particularly in the lack lustre bathrooms. It also became very noisy at points and hard to hear my dinner partner.
We were pleasantly welcomed at the host station and taken to our table where we got a complimentary glass of bubbles.
Then we ordered the chef’s special starter, the scallops, and of the main menu the squid.
(Both spectacular)
Then we both had the Monkfish wrapped in pancetta with creamy mash, pesto and pine nuts, cooked to perfection, firm yet soft, and great balance of flavours.
Then to finish we had a dessert cocktail each which were both nice but the partner had chosen better (an “after eight mintini” which surpassed my “upside down cheesecake” by miles)
And obviously not to be forgotten, the service was fabulous, funny, polite and excellent all round by Matt, Helen and Aron.
This is the spot to be …
And don’t worry if you don’t trust it..,. There’s meant to be something fishy about it.
I asked for the black pudding to be removed and they offered hash-browns at no extra cost.
The waiter was polite and efficient – couldn’t ask for more! Will absolutely be visiting again.
Thank you so much to everyone for the delicious food and experience, and especially thank you to Vendi for making us feel so welcome, we were still talking about you by the time we got home!
We had the £130 seafood plater, the food was good but nothing that gave me a wow amazing feeling.
The lobster was huge let down, very small, chewy and no flavour at all.
The dresses crab was good.
Oysters, good
Shell off small prawns was tasteless
Cockles was good.
Smoked prawns was one of the best tasting item on the plater along side the cured salmon.
Tiger prawns was ok, bit mushy but good flavour.
Muscles with the “clams” was in a buttery parsley sauce. The clams was the smallest clam ive ever seen in my life no bigger than your little finger nail. The muscles was a good size. Over all they tasted ok.
The service charge is crazy though 12.5%
Our meal come £143 as we had a side of tempura prawns, sub total came to £163 with a wopping £20 service charge, £20 just to bring out two plates ?
Can safely say won’t be going back just on the principle of the service charge.
Beautifully prse6 , abd yummy desserts.
Good wine.
