We ordered take out from here in April and we were not impressed. We ordered some pretty simple dishes (shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and beef with broccoli) so I am not sure how they messed them up but they did.
Also, you could not eat in the restaurant, I am not sure if they changed that since then but if you are interested, call before you go, if you are trying to eat in.

First Wok is one of my favorite Chinese takeout spots in Austin. Portions are very generous (definitely enough for leftovers), prices feel fair, and the food is consistently fresh and flavorful. Service has always been friendly and quick.
I highly recommend the Beef & Broccoli complete meal — it comes with your choice of soup and an egg roll. I usually add white rice and a side of lo mein, which makes it a super filling combo.
It also has that authentic neighborhood family-run feel. Definitely a reliable go-to for Chinese takeout.

An order out joint that stands out among the best Chinese American food we’ve had in Austin. We recently took a trip to First Wok and were very impressed with what we found. There is good parking out front and the ordering process to pick up is very smooth. The food was hot and stayed hot during our trip back up north. We ordered beef and broccoli, plain lo mein, steamed dumplings, and one egg roll.
Everything ranged from meh to good, or a 4 to 7 for a numerical idea. The thing that really pushes it over are the LARGE portion sizes. The beef and broccoli was delicious, velvety and savory, packed to the brim. The white rice it came with tasted old but it’s plain white rice so who cares? The plain lo mein was fantastic. The noodles had a great chew and good flavor with every bite, again, a large portion. The steamed dumplings were the most ehh of the food, definitely not the worst we’ve, just not good. Lastly, the egg roll was pretty good, we actually wish we had ordered more of them. Summarily, the food at First Wok is pretty good for Austin’s Chinese food scene but compared to others it’s meh. We’ll give this place an Austin 4 but in the Bay or NYC it probably wouldn’t hold as high.

I’m convinced the bad reviews are fake. I’ve been coming to 1st wok for 4 years. I haven’t found any other Chinese take out in Austin that can even compare to this place. Every time I come here it taste the same (Amazing!) and the staff is polite, and it’s nice to see it’s a family owned business with the kids sitting doing their homework. You just can’t go wrong with 1st Wok!!!

I love their food. Amazing portion for $12 or so. They even have a special diet menu for those with dietary restrictions. I can portion one meal (meat, veg, rice) into 3 meals throughout the day or days. Closed on Tuesdays, open by 11 AM is perfect. Orange chicken has orange peel but not nuts like the website says. You can have the sauce on the side.

My SO and I shared the Singapore rice noodles and chicken low mein. Food tasted delicious, curry they use is very tasty. Food was hot/fresh. Easy to order at the front. Food was ready to go within 10 min of ordering at the place. Lady who helped us was nice. Would definitely come again to try the rest of the menu!

First time ordering food from this establishment. It’s mainly a take out/delivery place, which I didn’t mind because I was picking up my meal to go anyways. I placed my order with DoorDash and it was ready for pick up fairly quickly. I ordered the Chicken Broccoli, Egg Roll and an Egg Drop Soup. The chicken broccoli was the right amount of sweet and savory. The broccoli was crispy, just the way I like it, not over cooked. I’m picky with my egg drop soup and their egg drop soup was delicious and just the right amount of egg and flavor. Their portions are pretty large, my meal could have easily fed 2 people. I am looking forward to trying other dishes.

Org the quality here is great. And portions are big. Love the orange beef and shrimp lo mein! Wish they’d open the dining room again but takeout is fine

Just had a solid dinner at First Wok (1st Wok) and it delivered. I ordered General Tso’s Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Combination Fried Rice, plus an appetizer of Crab Puffs — the portions were generous, the sauce on the General Tso’s was just the right mix of sweet & spicy, and the fried rice was fragrant and full of flavor.
The service was friendly and efficient, even though it was a busy night. The place has a casual neighborhood feel — no pretenses, just good, dependable Chinese food. I’ll be back to try the Orange Flavored Beef and Sea Treasure Pot next time.

Great prices and incredible amount of food given. So glad we tried it and will be back! We ordered orange, General Tso’s, and sesame chicken, along with some egg drop soup. Flavor was great on all, but egg drop soup was lacking a little (still would order again though because it’s cheap!)
