First Watch is an award-winning breakfast, brunch and lunch spot, serving a chef-driven menu of elevated classics and seasonal specialties, always made to order using the freshest ingredients. We greet the sunrise by slicing and juicing fresh fruits and vegetables, whipping French toast batter from scratch and brewing pots of our single-origin Project Sunrise coffee. Freshness is never comprised, which is why we welcome each season into our menu with ingredients and flavors inspired by the position of the sun. All year long, you can enjoy craveable favorites like Avocado Toast for breakfast, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict for brunch and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes for lunch. First Watch Alexandria was an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding — I ordered the chimichurri steak and egg hash, Belgian waffles, and a side of cheese grits, and everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
The Pineapple Express drink was a standout as well — refreshing, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal.
Service was just as great. Our server, Tyrone, was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was on point throughout our visit.
If you’re looking for a brunch spot that consistently delivers great food and great service, First Watch Alexandria is a must. I’ll definitely be back.

This was my second visit to the First Watch on Richmond Highway, and it confirmed how great this location is.
My first visit was about a week ago around opening time (7 AM). I was the first dine-in customer, and my server, David, was charismatic and helpful. I ordered the rustic kale frittata with home fries and a poppyseed ricotta pancake—everything was delicious, and that pancake surprised me since I don’t usually enjoy lemony sweets.
Today I came a little before 1 PM. The restaurant was packed, and the hostess quoted a 35-minute wait. I decided to stick around. A few minutes later, I asked the manager, Tati, how many parties were ahead of me, she noticed I was dining solo and kindly seated me right away. I really appreciated that gesture.
Crista was my server. She was so sweet. I ordered the avocado toast and smoked salmon frittata. Both were delicious, and the avocado toast was impressively generous—not just a thin smear of “guac” like most places.
I’ll absolutely be back, maybe with friends next time. And now I know you can hop on the waitlist online in advance!

Overall, the menu augmented common breakfast recipes in interesting ways. We ordered a variety of items and everything was well prepared. We are definitely inclined to go back. It was very busy and there was a line out the door. Don’t let that dissuade you, maybe just try it at off peak times.

Jose was accommodating, attentive and friendly! The food was delicious and hit the spot. The lemon ricotta was a perfect blend of tart and sweet. The pancakes, both pumpkin and buttermilk, we’re light and fluffy. The chipotle chicken egg and potatoes hash was amazing- super flavorful just a hint of a kick.

My sister and I had the pleasure of visiting the new Alexandria, Va location. We were warmly welcomed by a cheerful hostess at the entrance. She informed us that we would receive a text when our table was ready. Although we were initially offered a table near the kitchen, she kindly offered us a cozy booth, which we appreciated.
Our waitress, Brittany, provided us with exemplary service. She was not only well-versed in the menu offerings but also took the time to share additional items that were not listed. Our orders, both food and drinks, were served promptly, and Brittany maintained a pleasant and professional demeanor throughout our visit.
As a result of our delightful experience, my family and I are thrilled that First Watch is now closer to us. We are looking forward to visiting this location regularly for delicious breakfasts and outstanding service.
