Corn beef hash was deliciously cooked, perfectly crispy and just the perfect comfort food. Crab cake benedict was absolutely to die for! Crab cakes were everything you’d want in a crab cake- no shells, very meaty and not a ton of filler. Truly phenomenal. Home fries are always crispy and hot!
I try to convince all of my family to come here on vacation because we just love it that much!
After being seated, we noticed a few mixed reviews online but were still curious and eager to try the food. Unfortunately, I have to be honest — the experience didn’t live up to expectations. We waited about 30 minutes for just a burger and some scrambled eggs. The burger was extremely dry and the bun was stiff to the point it made eating uncomfortable. I barely touched the fries, as they were overly greasy and lacked flavor. It’s rare for me to leave food on the plate, so even my girlfriend was surprised.
She had the scrambled eggs, which were solid, but her bacon was also very fatty and came with an unusual honey sauce that didn’t quite work. The overall flavor just wasn’t there and for the price point, it felt disappointing.
I don’t write this to be harsh but to offer an honest perspective to future guests. I truly hope the restaurant takes this feedback as constructive. I’d love to come back in the future and have a better experience.
Clearly no one on the staff has experience with hospitality services based on the lack of organization displayed.
Update. The manager brought out my sandwich minus French fries, and said I’ll bring you out some hot fries in a minute.
Tables that have been empty for a while are still waiting to be cleared and cleaned.
Update. After we asked our server for the correct beverage for my son, she returned with a kids size cup and NEVER returned. I mean; NEVER. Someone else brought out the food. The manager brought out my food, gave us our check and collected our payment. We got ghosted. Unacceptable service considering they were less than 50% capacity one month into tourist season.
Service was not great. Sure, they’re attentive, but you’ll feel like an inconvenience constantly. They are kid friendly, and seem much kinder to the tables that have kids present; we were just adults and didn’t deserve the smile treatment I guess. We had a similar experience in ’21, and I think this was just the last nail in the coffin for us.
Lastly, we’re visiting, so maybe this is a specifically NC thing, but passing on credit charges to the customers when tipping culture is already strained felt weird for us. I’m happy for them that they seem to have a loyal following who enjoy what they provide, but we left pretty bummed.
