I ordered the veal parmigiana. The red gravy was delicious and plentiful, as was the breaded veal. It served over angel hair past with a slice of cheese. (No kudos for the latter.) The meal came with cole slaw. I was very please with the portion size, the flavor and the price.

The atmosphere is that of a neighborhood restaurant. You go there for the food, not the ambiance.

I also ordered the spicy garlic bread. I like spicy, but I was not please with soggy bread that tasted more of hot sauce than garlic.

The service was great. I would definitely recommend this cafe.

Probably the worst food I’ve had at a sit down restaurant. The chicken parmigiana poppy was rubbery and tasted like a banquet tv dinner. The “garlic” fries was just French fries with what tasted like crab boil, Tabasco, and ketchup on it. I expected more from a place that has been in business since “1921” but it was just expensive tv dinners. Do not recommend at all. I made it through the first poboy and even though it tasted bad and not worth $10 I wasn’t completely disgusted. Half way through my second half of the poboy the chicken was so rubbery that it was hard to even bite and I did not finish it. They call it first and last chance because after your first time eating here it should definitely be your last time.

This is the cafe’ my father used to work at. I went back to feel his presence, I did. The place is kinda caught in a time Long since past, I guess that’s what made it easy to feel him. I love those places where you can step back in time and know that it wasn’t always like this, messed up.

I stopped here on my way to New Orleans. I wish I had read the reviews first. The food is really not good. Even fast food is better.
Don’t waste money here

It’s a decent place to grab a bite. It’s got a small town close Community feel and there is lots of discussion about local events like ball games and how people are doing. The bar looked pretty stocked, nothing too exotic but looked pretty deep as far as options for spirits. Would probably be a great place to catch a game, though you had probably better be rooting for the home team.

The food was decent, nothing to write home about, but I was not disappointed. The spaghetti and meatballs was recommended to me though I did not try it today. I had a cheeseburger which was okay. Their sweet tea is on point.

The atmosphere is small town and comfortable, though a little messy around the edges. Nothing to be worried about, just looks like you are catching them in the middle of a long shift that has been going on for many years.

If I’m in this part of town again, I will definitely give it another go.

HORRIBLE!!! I have never experienced such horrible food in my life. I ordered the 16oz ribeye steak. The steak did not have any seasoning and it tasted like it was spoiled and my French fries were half cooked. I took only two bites of my steak and ate on a few fries and I was still charged for it. It made me sick to the stomach. HORRIBLE!!!!

“The Chance” is like stepping back in time, the food is excellent and different with a few home style favorites but the people make the difference. The staff were friendly, quick and are always smiling. There is always a crowd around the bar that are quick to engage you in a conversation and make you feel like a part of their community.

Their lunch specials are grand plus the regular menu has all of the standards…fried fish, fried shrimp, hamburgers.
