I ordered the smothered pork chop and catfish meal’s. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I’m not gonna lie, I was very skeptical when I saw there was a soul food restaurant on this side of the DMV area. Most often when I see a place selling soul food in this area, my expectations are low and my disappointment is high. However, when I talked to the gentleman behind the counter while he poured a bowl of butter over the candy yams, I thought this place might have a chance. And, Lord have mercy, I was right to give this place a chance. I was not disappointed at all. It was everything soul food is supposed to be: seasoned, flavorful and unhealthy if you have high cholesterol, or blood pressure.

Food was so good! Definitely will be coming back, cooks were friendly and kind. We got dinner meals and the jumbo shrimps were huge. High recommend.
We paid $20 for an entree and 2 sides, my dish came was shrimp and it came with hush puppies. We also got red velvet cake and bread pudding which was so good, wishing you the best for your business.

Customer service was exceptional from the moment I arrived and exited my vehicle. The owner personally greeted me and inquired if I was seeking the restaurant. I confirmed my intention and he informed me that it was conveniently standing right in front I expressed my positive impression of the ambiance. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed the menu displayed on the counter. The prices, which are owned and operated by a Black individual, are quite reasonable. I I ordered the Whiting macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and catfish as a side dish. The culinary experience was exceptional, with each dish meticulously prepared and seasoned to perfection. The exceptional quality of the food will undoubtedly lead me to return in the future.

I’ve often found that uber-local joints get inflated ratings, from people charmed by an involved owner and/or who want to support a <5-man operation. I was happy to discover that wasn't the case here. The food's good! Very classic.
I asked for a dinner plate of “whatever you recommend”, with the assurance that, really, anything was fine, and got this: fried whiting, collard greens, and sweet potatoes, along with some white bread.
The whiting was hot and seasoned, with crispy breading and almost no bones in the filet I ate. The sweet potato was an absolute standout for me — took me right back to every Thanksgiving with my family. The collard greens were made with more vinegar than I’m used to, but not so much that it was off-putting (which I have definitely encountered at other places), and it helped to have something cut through the sweet potato in the meal. Took it all to the next level by making a sandwich out of it and getting some Texas Pete in there.
The price-portion ratio takes this from a respectable 4* to a 5* for me. I paid $22 total and still have enough food for another meal and a snack. That’s VALUE, ladies and gentlemen, and fewer and fewer places have that. Delicious end to my personal observation of Juneteenth; I’d love to come back and try other people’s recommendations.

I saw “Soulfood” and wanted to try this out for the first time. I ordered fish & shrimps combo with macaroni & cheese (flavored nicely, but mine was a little overcooked) and “ canned Glory Greens” I mean collard greens. Yes that’s why I lowered the rating, a soul food spot should NEVER sell canned greens (Yuk). Also I would recommend they lemon the seafood before frying it, to take the fishy taste out. If you’re using basic flour recipes that’s a must because your true season flavors are not coming through over that taste. That’s another STAR OFF. However their customer service was Phenomenal and sauce was delicious So 3/5 and that’s a HONEST review. I hope they get better because we can really use them across the whole DMV area.

So we were visiting from NC and decided to give this spot a try. Let me tell ya the food was off the chain!!! I had the fried chicken wings- yams and Mac n cheese!! Everything was good!! The crab cakes were extra too!!!

Man ole man!!!! Went to Arlington for one thing and ended up with another. Thank God I did. This place was fire!!! The service was great, wait time was minimal and the food was fresh and hot. We tried a couple of different things and we weren’t disappointed. I’m definitely spinning the block on this one. If you’re looking for a great soul food spot this is it. Tell’em I sent you.

This is the kind of place Triple D is always looking for! Very much a take away small place, but with extremely friendly and cheerful service, quick made to order meal and amazing food! By far the best collard greens I’ve ever had. Had the whiting platter with greens and Mac and cheese. The fish was a huge portion of crisp, lightly breaded whiting (somewhere between cod and catfish texture and taste wise if you’ve not had it), again amazing greens, and the Mac and cheese was excellent. I will definitely be back if I’m in the area again. And get their hot sauce on the side, have a great kick if you’re into that. Highly recommend!
