Don’t let the trophies fool you. … Winning at Cook-offs don’t equal great dining experience. Stopped in on a father’s day Sunday with my kids since we were in the area. I’d had great dining experiences here in the past, but it’s been a couple years since I’d been able to come back. What caused the two stars?

We ordered lean brisket sandwiches and potato salad. The BBQ was delicious, but half of the meat was fat. We had to open the sandwiches and remove all the gooey fat. We were left with half of the entire amount of meat! The whole family was very disappointed. We traveled quite a distance to get there. We won’t be back for another letdown.

When they first opened the BBQ ribs were really good . One year later the ribs were not that good . I was going twice a month , year latter twice a year . I thought I’d give then another try . Got the ribs to go . I could not eat them , tasted horrible!! Had to eat the raw onion to get the bad taste out of my mouth. The one star is for them returning my money. I will not be back .

at 26.00 per pound for brisket I should get what I ordered. I asked for 2 pounds of THE FATTY brisket NOT the lien meat. I specifically asked and they confirmed they knew what I wanted, had it, and would get it. I got home and sure as $hit, it was the dried out lien meat. Either they dont know the difference or they dont care what you’re paying top dollar for.

I love Texas barbecue when it’s done right, and it’s one of the things I miss now that I live in Florida. On a visit to our daughter in Austin, I had the good fortune to come across First Class BBQ and I fully understand why they have so many cups surrounding the bar. The barbecue was delicious. I had brisket and sausage with beans and slaw, washed down with a shiner bock. It was wonderful. The meats were tender and flavorful and the sauce was tasteful without being overpowering and the couple running the place were very friendly. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Texas, we’ll be stopping by First Class BBQ on our way to Austin.

Texas BBQ is very competitive. There are a lot of people who want to get into the BBQ lifestyle here in Texas … few actually have what it takes and these guys really know what all that is. This was one of the best BBQ experiences I’ve had. Don’t pass them by if you find yourself in town. That would be a mistake. …. All side dishes are tasty as well!!!
