It was an okay experience. The food I ordered was extremely sweet and burnt, and not filling. My friend had a burger and said it was okay. She did enjoy the basil dip a lot though. The service was okay and the waiter was friendly. I don’t think I will return but I tried it because many people raved so much about it.

We made reservations which I think was important because they were super busy. We were sat right away upstairs looking out over the street. It was a great seat really. Our server was great. She was very friendly and we didn’t lack for anything the whole time. We were there for almost two hours but we had a starter and dessert. The timing between the courses wasn’t too bad. Just expect to stay a little while on a Friday night. Our food was over all delicious. The bread pudding dessert blew us away. The portions are honestly pretty good. We will definitely be back next time we r in Frederick. The atmosphere outside was pretty cool so it was nice to watch as people went by from our table upstairs.

Nice atmosphere over the two levels of this establishment with a full-size bar and a variety of seats and tables nestled throughout. When we visited, the calamari had an interesting flavor but was incredibly salty–almost too salty to eat. My burger was fantastic and the charcuterie board my wife ordered was well-prepared and presented. The apple cobbler was terrific, as well. Would like to come back again.

Last few drinks and servings at Firestone’s Culinary Tavern. Heard it was closing due to the passing of the owner. Condolences to the family. We hope the business continues as their food is second to none in the area. We were lucky to be in town visiting our home and families and heard about the closing. The food is out of this world! Prayers and thoughts are with the families.

Highly recommend!! First time visitors & impressed with food & service! I made a reservation for our party of 9 to celebrate my daughter’s 20th birthday. We were seated in a comfy “loft” semi-private section upstairs overlooking restaurant…perfect seating!! Tavern atmosphere as expected. Our waitress was very attentive, sweet & provided excellent service throughout our meal. Although everything was outstanding & the flavors created a party in my mouth, some of the dishes we had were the fried green tomatoes, crab dip, butter poached lobster with risotto, crab cakes, arugula salad, signature oyster & espresso martini. All dishes made with fresh ingredients & their house rolls are incredible! Must try this culinary treat located right in downtown Frederick (allow time to find parking). Excellent experience & birthday dinner!!

The Scallops should be called ‘The Last Scallop’. Any others simply don’t compare. Perfectly cooked and served over a godly bed of vegetables in a light cream sauce. Absolutely incredible pairing. The chef knows what the hell he’s doing in that kitchen. I also had the Poussin which was also very good. Atmosphere was lively even on a Thursday night. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

Decided to try out Firestone’s Culinary Tavern for brunch. We have eaten dinner here before but this was the first time we have attended brunch.

Making a reservation was easy. Using Resy we were able to book the 2 person reservation for 2 pm (they were booked until then) and had no issues beig seated when we arrived. Glad to see that restaurants are starting to fill up again.

The restaurant is on two levels. A bar with some restaurant seating on the entry level and an upstairs balcony that had most of the restaurant seating. I love the neon sign on the left at the bar when you walk in – Good Food, Strong Drinks! Quite appropriate.

Our waitress was Courtney and she was attentive and helpful in making suggestions, etc. I opted for coffee and Eggs Benedict (with extra Hollandaise sauce) with an additional fruit bowl side. We also had the Espresso Martini and Coop’s Gumbo. The Eggs Benedict was very good and my wife enjoyed the Gumbo. She mentioned it has “a kick to it” (as it should!) and was made with homemade sausage and shrimp over jasmine rice. I really wanted to Strawberry Shortcake, but I was full. Overall a decent meal. Plenty of options for drinks ranging from cocktails, wine and beers.

Enjoyed the food, loved the service and a nice atmosphere. Stop by and try it for yourself.

We stopped in for Sunday brunch – shared an entree, app, and then dessert. Everything was delicious, but we absolutely LOVED the Smores Bread Pudding dessert.

Additionally, I’m from further south than MD and appreciate a good cup of sweet tea – our wonderful server, Matthew P, had the great solution of bringing me a glass of unsweet tea and some simple syrup. The perfect solution to unsweet tea! He had a great idea and great service throughout our outdoor visit. Would definitely recommend!

We have had drinks, apps and oysters here several times. I figured dinner would make a nice anniversary date for my wife and I. 7:00 on a Saturday. We started out with half a dozen of each of the 3 varieties of oysters as well as an additional 4 signature oysters. Nothing short of amazing.

The crab dip was exactly what my wife was looking for.

Next was the Chef’s Board charcuterie. No complaints about the quality of anything presented but the most exciting flavor happening was the side of truffle honey. Also the Chef’s choice to omit the foie gras mousse was a bit disappointing.

My wife ordered the wagyu serloin. It was supposed to come with fingerling potatoes buy came with what looked like yucca instead. Whatever it was, it was cooked and seasoned appropriately. The beef was phenomenal and the port wine demi really elevated the whole thing.

I ordered the braised short rib. The star of the plate was the Creamy polenta. The pork and jus were under seasoned and i really got no salt (except the polenta) or acid from the dish. I posted a picture and I can only assume the garnish on top of the polenta was my crispy baby kale. I got no crispness nor kale flavor.

We would have asked our server about the potato substitute and the kale but she had disappeared. A second server delivered another Shirley Temple for my wife and the second server also soon delivered our entrees. Nobody checked on us for more than a half hour after the entrees had been delivered. We had time to eat, discuss getting desserts, pick out our desserts, continue waiting and then decide against waiting longer for desserts. We finally saw our original server almost 45 minutes since my wife ordered her drink and more than 30 minutes after entrees were delivered. The tables had also significantly cleared out just before our food was delivered.

All of the service issues aside, the atmosphere is great. The quality of the ingredients was fine as well. Just a bit overpriced for what we got. The oysters were on the pricey side as well, but worth every dollar.

We paid over $100 per person without drinks. Neither of us feel the level of service received reflects that price point. I was also expecting a little more of a flavor pop. We paid a premium price for a mediocre experience.

We will be back for daytime oysters and drinks when family comes to visit.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We did not have a reservation but were lucky and got seated right away on the upper level overlooking the bar. I do suggest reservations. The meal was top shelf! We started with the crab dip and didn’t leave a speck. I had the veal shank and it was amazing! Michele had the sirloin and loved it! Do take the time to eat here if you’re ever even close to Fredrick.
