With our in-laws in town, we headed out for a quick family dinner at Pane E Vino, only to find it boarded up. So we opted for the other restaurant in the square, Fireside Grill. The place was basically empty, yet they squeezed us between two other parties. I don’t know why restaurants do this. If you’ve got space, use it, especially when a party of eight shows up with little kids.

Our server was wonderful. I think her name was Angel. She gave great suggestions and was very attentive.

As far as the food, it’s pretty terrible. I had the margarita flatbread, which was little more than unripe tomatoes smothered with fresh mozzarella on a burnt tortilla. I guess everyone else liked their food. No one complained, but no one seemed especially pleased, either.

They had a decent selection of beer on tap, and it’s easy to find parking, so they’ve got that going for them.

I miss Pane E Vino

I really want to like this place. We have lived in the neighborhood for 8 years and go once a year and it is still a struggle. The food is decent and the atmosphere is great but there are always problems with the service. It seems like every time the manager ends up behind the counter getting things back on track as well as running plates to and from tables. There is some systemic problem that is preventing them from excelling. Last night it took us 2 hours to eat and the waiter apologized numerous times. I also had to make my own trip to the counter for condiments. Each course took about 10 minutes longer to prep than it ought to and came out staggered. The cole slaw had no dressing and the flat bread pizza was very bland. Last year we had 6 at our table and only two people had their order right on the first try. See you next year. We’ll be at Pane e Vino if you need us.

My trip to the fireside Grill with one of my guy friends was a bit lacklustre.

We ordered a steak and a burger. We both had the same taste so we ordered our meat to be Medium rare. I have to say, it was not medium rare at all, it was practically raw.
In fairness to them though they didn’t just reheat our food, they gave us whole new dishes.

The food itself had a great flavour once it was cooked right and we were more than satisfied. We will definitely be coming back soon

Saturday evening, Aug 30th, I took customers to the Fireside Grill because it was convenient to my customers and the reviews on line suggested it was a good place to take them. Unfortunately, the reviews did not help me in making the decision to eat at the Fireside Grill. Consider the following:

1) The Mojitos we ordered had limes and mint leaves with brown spots on them….not appetizing.
2) The waitress ignored us for the most part. The only time she stopped by our table was if if hailed another wait staff person to find her for us.
3) Appetizers were good….oysters on the half-shell and hummus. Both were good and fresh.
4) The waitress did not write anything down that was ordered for dinner and because of that, one dinner was completely not ordered….and we realized that when everyone was getting their dinner and the waitress said “oh S _ _ T!” 15 minutes later, my customers dinner arrived and was raw in the middle….he ordered his steak medium rare. He gave it back to the waitress and told her he wanted nothing, just take it back and take it off my bill. The other customer who ordered a medium rare hamburger platter complained that his hamburger was well done….not pink in the least. He too said he didn’t want it and take it off the bill.

By the time this all happened, 1-1/2 hours went by with ok food and a surly waitress. I went and spoke with the manager, Ryan, and told him I was embarrassed that I selected this restaurant to take my customers to treat them for dinner and it was a fiasco. I advised him that we would never come to his restaurant again. He apologized all over himself which was humbling…he obviously was embarrassed and told me he was taking care of the bill. While that was a nice gesture, it was now almost 9:00PM and I had a couple of hungry men.

I suggest you pay attention to this review and consider dining elsewhere.

I have been going to Fireside Grill since it opened a few years ago. Clearly, I’ve been pretty happy with the place. I particularly enjoy the happy hour specials and the nice company at the bar. The manager takes time to come out and chat and to make sure that things are going well for us, almost every time I’m there. Do go!

When entering Fireside Grill, the aroma of the food being prepared arouses your taste buds and will most definitely have you salivating prior to arriving to your seat! The atmosphere is welcoming with its warm red, blue, and yellow fire themed coloring. I always enjoy the fact that I can show up in jeans or show up in a cocktail dress and still feel comfortable and not out of place. The staff is very welcoming; whether it be from the playful and exuberant bartender(s), the gregarious and friendly servers, the lively hostesses, the gentlemanly bus boys, or the ebullient manager(s) who aim to speak with each table throughout their visit.

Aside from the environment and staff, the variety of food can settle any food lover’s appetite! From the Chicken and Bacon sandwich, the Spinach and Blue salad (my favorite due to the bacon, blue cheese crumbles, and the delicious garlic dijon dressing), the Pepper Crusted Rib Eye, the Margarita flatbread, or even the Tilapia and Crab, there’s something for everybody! For those who are less comfortable venturing into trying new things, may I suggest the Natural Burger? It’s quite crazy to believe that a place that isn’t “specialized” in burgers can create a delicious gourmet one in the time span of ten minutes and in the convenience of the neighborhood. If you’re not looking for food, don’t hesitate to stop by the full bar for a few drinks. Over the weekends, there’s usually a good amount of those there who want to enjoy a few and socialize! Plus, the bartender will make sure to keep you company and laughing! Also, there are three TVs that usually have the main games on and the news, but if neither channels spark your interest, the bartenders are quick to please and change the channel to whatever you prefer!

Overall, I would recommend Fireside Grill to anyone in the area! What a great establishment with great food, service, and atmosphere! I love it here!

I went there for Happy Hour yesterday and the bartender had her hair everywhere! Beautiful hair, but around food and drink, put it up on a ponytail or bun so it’s not flying all over everyone’s food. I thought that was the grossest thing ever. She would wipe her hair out of her face and use the same hand to pick up cherries, oranges or olives to place in someone’s drink. I wondered if there was a health code violation of some type, but I didn’t ask I just stopped eating and drinking after I saw what was going on, paid my check and left.

Dead on a Saturday should have been a clue. The beer I got wasn’t the one I ordered and the waiter argued with me until I told him to check with the bartender.

The mixed grill had no taste like it was cooked ahead of time and grill marks were put on at the last minute.

Bad food, bad service, looking forward to this place going under so something decent can move in.

My God what wonderful food! A short drive from Mt. Vernon. We stopped on a whim and we were blown away! The price is amazing for the quality of food. The best burgers and flatbread pizzas. Great steaks and Lamb chops. Will definitely come back when thru this area again!

Service a tad slow at first, ramped up quickly. Table of 8 outside. Golden ox beer fantastic. Fresh mint growing outside for the mojitos! We ordered burger, airline chicken, wedge salad w/steak, mushroom flatbread with chorizo, pomodore pasta. All hot and great taste! The fresh bread and butter a really nice plus. In town to visit friends and would definitely return.
