My first time and won’t be my last. Everything was delicious, although in my opinion the corn bread was a little too dry for my liking. Food came out quick. Can’t wait to come back and try some more stuff on the menu. The dipping pepper is a must try, perfect to dip your sticky rice and choice of proteins in. The mac and cheese and greens were the perfect side combo.

Good place for barbecue, surprisingly cheap if you share a two plate. Everything was pretty tasty with the highlights being the Mac and cheese and rib tips. Nothing was jaw dropping but nothing was bad either. Overall; solid spot if you are looking for southern barbecue. (NOTE: I got takeout but live just a few blocks away so I don’t think the food quality was compromised)

This place is ridiculously delicious. You walk in and get hit with that incredible BBQ smell. Brisket and ribs were tender, sauce so good. We sampled all the sides and liked all of them.

For MN, this place is average at best or almost as good as most BBQ places in the Upper Midwest. I’ve been to most of the best BBQ places in Texas, so I know how BBQ to perfection should taste like.
I ordered the brisket, tips, pork ribs, wings, and Mac N cheese.
Brisket: 7/10 a little dry, lacking that tick flavorful crust and ring. The flavor was okay.
Tips: 5/10 same situation as the brisket.
Pork ribs: 6/10 I’ve had better in MN. Same as the situation as the brisket and tips. There is a trend here that I picked up on really fast.
Wings: 3/10 One of the worst smoked wings and almost flavorless…
Mac N Cheese: 3/10 Very dry, hardly any cheese except for the sprinkle of shredded cheese on top of it.
I won’t be going here again for BBQ.

It’s tough to find decent BBQ in Minnesota. Having spent a lot of time in Texas and smoking at home my expectations are high. First time here I got the 1 meat combo platter. The brisket was great! The bark has a hint of sweet which makes me think they must smoke with a fruitwood. Juicy, great pull and nice smoke ring. The sides were good too. Mac n cheese was nice and the greens were nice and buttery. They have one decent BBQ sauce to choose from, which is fine because the brisket didn’t need it anyway. Can’t wait to come back and try more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FIVE STARS — Fire Box BBQ, Marshall St., St. Paul
After catching a free pipe band concert at Macalester College—complete with Highland dancers and absolutely fantastic energy—we were heading home and happened to drive past a little corner spot called Fire Box BBQ. I love barbecue, so I thought, “Why not stop and try it?” I’m so glad we did.
The food was incredible.
The brisket was tender, juicy, perfectly smoked, and packed with flavor—truly some of the best I’ve had in Minnesota. The collard greens surprised me in the best way. I’m usually hesitant to order them because so many places don’t cook them right, but these were meat-free, thoroughly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and absolutely delicious.
The sweet potatoes were another standout—real sweet potatoes cut into cubes, not mushy, not canned, and seasoned perfectly with that sweet-and-savory balance. The fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and very tasty, though I don’t believe they were hand-cut.
My only critique: the cornbread was a bit dry for my taste. It’s probably the only item I wouldn’t order again.
Everything else? Phenomenal. I will definitely be back, and honestly I might have to start buying their brisket in bulk. That’s how good it was.
Highly recommend this spot to any BBQ lover. Five stars, hands down.

I love this place, ordered the 2 meat plate. Brisket/Rib Tips, fries & Texas toast. Was enough for 2 people or 2 separate meals. I’ll be back. Why people always have to compare BBQ places with their trips to Texas is beyond me. As if a state line has anything to do with how you smoke meat. Anyways…thank you for the great meal.

I was craving BBQ, and this place is close to my work, so I gave it a shot. I placed an order online, and it was a standard wait of 40 minutes, no big deal. It took an extra 20 minutes on top of that, but it was still no big deal, just plan accordingly if you order to go. The ribs were tender, the brisket was great, the potatoe salad was good, and so were the greens, the mac was mid, but that could be from travel time. I liked their BBQ sauce but would have loved some more heat in it. Parking is across the street just a heads up. I’d definitely go again and have no regrets!

It was ok. I wouldnt say it was bad. But it wasnt anything to write home about. I would say what really disappointed me was the price. Thought it was way to expensive.
I would say its better than dickies bbq. But not so much as to be priced where it was.

FireBox BBQ is the best Barbecue I have had in the Twin Cities. This place has that actual real smoke that you can taste and smell. I had the 2 meat platter with brisket and ribs. Both were phenomenal. The brisket was tender and juicy with a nice crust. Same with the pork ribs, always having a nice smoke ring in the meat. Coleslaw was great. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. The house BBQ sauce was also one of my favorite BBQ sauces I’ve had.
