Being from the UK and a long-time consumer of FBI TV dramas, it felt only right to stop here on the way back from a visit to the gates of Quantico. I mean… when in Virginia, lean into the narrative.
The menu is excellent — loads of choice and everything looked tempting. The burgers were calling my name, but I opted for a chicken salad and let me tell you… this was a plate and a half. Generous, fresh, and packed with flavour.
Huge appreciation for being able to choose the dressing. I asked for it on the side because I absolutely cannot abide food being clarted in dressing — once it’s drowned, the dish is dead. This? Perfect balance. My taste buds were very happy.
The steak-cut chips were solid, and the iced tea and root beer were spot on — constantly refilled before you even realised you needed one. That’s the level of service we like.
I didn’t catch our server’s name, but she was excellent. Attentive without hovering, gave us time to read the menu, made good recommendations, and somehow appeared with refills like a hospitality ninja. Not overbearing. Not invisible. Service: just right.
It was busy for lunchtime but still had a nice atmosphere. Loved the bar area too — those illuminated drinks bottles add a bit of theatre without trying too hard.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
If you’re after a great salad or a burger for lunch, this is a solid shout.

This is my second review for Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Gainesville, VA. My wife and I can confidently say this is our go-to spot for great food, service, and ambiance. You can always tell when a restaurant has strong chemistry among its staff — and that comes from being managed by people who truly care. The place is spotless, and the food is always five-star — tasty, hot, beautifully presented, featuring amazing seasonal specials, and consistently appetizing.
The reason for this second review is to give a special shout-out to Cali from Nokesville (not California — inside joke!). Nothing against today’s younger generation, but it’s rare to find someone with such natural ease in conversation. Cali is an old soul with a wonderful personality, genuine warmth, and incredible knowledge of the menu. She’s the kind of server who doesn’t just take your order — she connects with you.
Early in our meal, I asked about something that’s normally only offered for to-go orders. Cali said she’d check into it, and I didn’t think much of it. Well, an hour and a half later, after we’d finished dining and checked out, she came back — having remembered my request — and made it happen. That level of attention and follow-through is rare these days.

We were able to get reservations on a Saturday night, so no waiting. Because there were five of us, we were seated at a round table; perfect for conversation. Because husband is a diabetic and this was late for him for dinner, the server was very quick to bring out the bread for him. She was very personable and attentive. All of the beef entrees were served at the temperature requested. Everything was hot and nicely plated. The beef entrees were delicious and tender. The server checked on us but never rushed us. Two of us had the 3 course fixed price dinner, so dessert was included. One ordered the chocolate cake and one the. Creme Brulee cheesecake. Both were shared, and made a great end of the meal. We would highly recommend this restaurant, and look forward to going there on our next trip to NOVA.

This place is great! Visited for a business lunch. The fireplace was going and it was very warm and inviting…comfy! The service was VERY attentive, and our food was delicious. I got the Cobb salad and all ingredients were fresh and tasty, and the portion was substantial. I ate it all 100% and it did fill me up. We also got the bread and everything was just marvelous. Highly recommend!

Our server, Deonte did such an excellent job taking care of my wife and I this evening. His service was excellent, and the food was phenomenal.
I ordered the aged ribeye cooked, medium, rare blackened, and it melted like butter in your mouth. My wife ordered the three course dinner And got the sirloin. That was also cooked phenomenally.
We’ve been to this Firebirds a few times, but this had to have been our best experience yet. Props to the chef and to Deonte. Firebirds has a couple of winners right there.
