Part 1: I live in the neighborhood. Some of the best fried chicken in the city The lemon pepper seasoning on a three-piece dark meat is my go-to ($6.99). Their hot sauces are delicious. They always give you 2 to 3 of them! The woman managing the front is kind and hard-working. Absolute hidden gem on the north side… To my fellow customers — it’s a small crew. Be nice/patient. They are worth the wait.
Part 2: This place changed hands… why rename it? Now it’s called “Krispy Chicken”. In my opinion, they cheapified it with the name and interior updates. They also increased prices, but I get that inflation probably forced them to. As for my usual 3 piece dark, it’s now $7.99. No drink included anymore. Food quality update: the chicken itself is still great. Lemon pepper seasoning and hot sauces seem to be same recipes. Regardless, I’m happy they have kept the fried chicken the same.
Re: They had a real good thing going. No need to reinvent the wheel. In my opinion, could’ve kept those individual meals on the menu the same, and more hot chicken options. Now it seems to be trying to appeal to bulk order 20 piece meals. Overall, still good food, which is the important part. New pic included.

Their mac & cheese is very gross. We talk about flavor and food. Well, they don’t flavor their mac & cheese. It tasted like throw up. And I thought I was Trippin until everybody in the room said the same exact thing. Where’s the Velveeta? My chicken was hard and stringy. Flavor was there. their french fries off the chain very good their ranch very good. I’m about ready to take my mac & cheese down there. Tell them I’ll make this for you every day if you please stop selling the mac & cheese you’re selling right now. I will sacrifice my time.

So I’ve always heard about this place and wanted to try it. I got the firebird chicken sandwich with the Coleslaw fries and the lemonade, my daughter got the burger with fries and the chicken nuggets. Everything was great! The chicken sandwich was amazingly delicious only thing is the chicken breast could have been a little bigger but other than that it was good. The lemonade baby was fire lol

I ordered the 2 tenders and fries meal, 1 slider and 1 tender meal snd 12 wings and fries. I don’t think the tenders had any taste to it but the chicken and fries were good. The lady at the counter was very nice and friendly. If I go back, it’ll be for wings and fries.

Located conveniently on Capitol Dr near Dineen Park, this place is serving up some seriously delicious and FRESH hot chicken. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly and upbeat atmosphere – the young, energetic staff really know how to create a hype vibe!
But let’s talk about the star of the show: the chicken! The fact that they use all-natural, free-range, never-frozen chicken makes a HUGE difference. It’s incredibly juicy and tender. And the spice levels? Perfection! I went for the “so-hot” and it definitely delivered a satisfying kick without being unbearable. They truly cater to everyone, though, with options from no-spice all the way to face-melting.
Beyond the chicken sandwiches and wraps, the loaded fries were phenomenal, and I couldn’t resist trying the Mac & Cheese (which did not disappoint!). UPDATE! Just had to come back and revamp my review of this establishment. Last evening I had an unfortunate exchange with one of the new cashiers, which didn’t end on a good note. After that, I had vowed not to ever order from there again.
Well this afternoon I had received an unexpected phone call from the actual owner of Firebird Hot Chicken, Eddie, and it really blew me away. He was so kind and just wanted to touch base with me & apologize about the incident that had occurred. Apparently they were having some mishaps with the online menu on Grubhub but that should all be resolved & corrected soon.
This man has restored my faith in what customer service should look like. I could tell that Mr. Eddie takes pride in his restaurant & loves serving the community. I also have to say that food wise, their beef nachos are some of the best I’ve eaten anywhere. Jam packed full of seasoned meat & fresh vegetables. I’m thinking about them right now! I will be back soon!
