We have been to the fire pit several times and the food and experience have always been great. My 3 year old grandson, who lives in Denver, loves going there on the 163 bus, and always eats his fill. The hosts are never concerned about the child exuberance, and a few extra dollars in the tip jar also goes a long way. The ribs fall apart in your mouth, and the chicken is delicious. We cant wait to go back there. 3 of us ate a huge lunch for about $50. Not a big place and seating is limited, as is parking, but still a great destination.

It’s a hole in the wall which is fine. They brought the food out which was fine. BBQ was too salty. Black Beans and Rice, that was weird. This was a weird experience, will most likely not return.

The food was poor for the prices. My wife and I were charged an extra $9 for dining in (auto gratuity),but there was no service to the table. They only brought the food, which was no more than 10 feet away from the counter. I actually had to get up anyways and get my drink from the refrigerator myself! They didn’t even mention the extra charge for dining in. I would have taken my food elsewhere if I had been informed beforehand.

Fresh delicious Portuguese food. Cant wait to go back for more. Rice could be a bit more flavorful but the chicken is out of this world, I thought the chicken would be BBQ and it’s not you’ll get the BBQ sauce in the side so that’s perfect!! Fresh salad with homemade dressing and chicken soup was so good too!! Enjoy!!

Fresh meat, chicken, ribs and burgers are seasoned and grilled to perfection on the open fire grill that is filled with flavor. The burger was huge and so flavorful from the hot embers. This place is absolutely incredible I love Firepit ! I tried some menu items that I never tried before including wings and an incredibly juicy burger with fries!
For our entree I shared a bbq platter with beef ribs, pork ribs, chicken, chorizo. Everything was incredibly tasty and delicious with just the right amount of salt! For sides we also shared French fries and yellow rice with black beans

It’s hard to explain why this place is so good, it just is. Over the years, prices have doubled and the service has slowed down a bit, but the food is still amazing. It’s not the absolute best of the best, but if you’re into this style of rice and chicken, it’s top-tier comfort food. This has been my favorite lunch spot for years, and it tastes exactly the same as it did a decade ago. The worst thing that ever happened to this place was the jerk spot opening next door because it stole a lot of the business.

I’ve ordered from here many times so I always referred this location to people. I picked up my order yesterday 1/2 ribs and 1/2 chicken. The order was much smaller and the chicken pieces were very small. My son got sick from it overnight. No more. I will be going to the Portuguese Tavern in Clifton or Newark from now on. Such a disappointment.

The price for the portions are ridiculous. The 22 oz steak was cooked to perfection, I asked for medium rare and medium rare I received. I was surprised as the steak was very thick but it managed to be well cooked. The food great all around and the smoke flavors are definitely present as it’s cooked over wood charcoal. The side of rice and beans were big enough for well over two people.
The #3 combo which was the pork spare ribs and beef short ribs was amazing. Nice and juicy in the middle alongside the crispy bits on the outside with the wood smoked flavors. The combo came with the same choice of sides, rice and beans or substitute fries, but we declined as it was such large portions and didn’t feel the need to waste food. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning again. One downside is that the parking is quite hectic and small, but well worth it in order to eat here.
