Came on a Saturday at 6pm and got seated right away- family of four. Service was very friendly, atmosphere was happy, cozy and warm. Good music playlist. I got the fish &chips and give it 10/10. Also ordered: Shepherds pie 7/10 ( excellent flavor but soupy consistency) French Dip 8/10 and Finn Burger 7/10. Highly recommend.

I’m posting this review as a warning. The men’s restroom on the landing between the two floors is cramped and poorly planned. The door swings into the restroom immediately next to the sink, meaning the only safe place to stand while washing your hands is squeezed between the sink and the stall. The one stall has two broken door locks and the toilet seat isn’t attached to the toilet. You can also see straight through some of the gaps in the stall walls to any of the other patrons who may be uncomfortably sharing the space with you. As someone who used to manage a restaurant I know what can happen in a single occupant bar bathroom but until a more permanent renovation can occur that bathroom needs to have a lock on the front door. Fixing the stall lock and toilet seat isn’t enough; the space needs to either be limited to one person or renovates to use the limited space much more consciously.

As a pub, McCool’s is fine. You could do better, you could do worse. The bathroom was the only part of the experience that I think will stand out to me in the future. I would much sooner go elsewhere.

Stopped in for dinner and a drink. We were kindly greeted and told to pick any table. We ordered mozzarella sticks for our appetizer, and they came out quick and piping hot. For dinner, chicken tenders, fries, and philly steak. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasty. The portion sizes are generous, and the fries came with Sriracha aioli, which was delicious. The service was also stellar, 5 stars all around. Can’t wait to come back.

A close relative of mine, and her husband, whom had just lost her father, needed a day out with family. My cousin had lost her footing on the uneven entrance, and our server just assumed she was intoxicated. Such a shame. Interestingly he only picked out the female out in the group and no one else. What is going on at this place. Yet he felt she was okay to be served. Then stared at us the entire time. So awkward. I would suggest avoiding this place at all costs

Wife and I had dinner here and loved it . We split a fish and chips dinner and had the cheesesteak spring rolls on the side. The cheesesteak spring rolls with Sriracha sauce is a miracle in food preparation. They are better and great! The fish was tender with a crispy beer batter crust, spicy tartar sauce, it came with steak fries that were soo good. The peas had to be fresh because they were perfectly cooked with a little crunch and not soggy like canned peas. Great beer and liquor selection and a great happy hour pricing before 7:00. The men and women working there are all great and make it a great place to go!

Decent pub food but and fair prices for some menu items like the meatball sub, but overall just meh at best in comparison to similar restaurants and pubs. Fries were above average.

Service Fee: There is a 4% service fee that I do not recall being mentioned anywhere on the menu or signage (but I am writing this a few weeks after visiting so may have missed-remembered). For a party of two that ends up being an about $1-2 fee

10/10 experience. Came to Philly on a girls trip and came here every night we were in town. The service is amazing, Matthew, Paul and James were a lot of fun and make awesome shots/drinks.

The bar gives a sports bar/dive/irish pub feel. Great atmosphere. Right in the Center City area so super convenient location if you’re staying around there, or in that area for the evening.

The food we tried was delicious (truffle fries and onion rings) We have the Philly Spring Roles on our “to get” list.

The peach mango cider was SO good and the spearhead (? I think, was quite a few drinks in at this point) IPA was also very good.

Overall we had such a great time, with great service, conversation and drinks/food.

If we make our way to Philly we’ll definitely be back to our “home” bar.

Thanks guys!!

Bought tickets to a Halloween event and this was one of the bars. Was really disappointed by two of the other bars but this one was great. Super friendly bartenders. Definitely going to come back during the holidays to have dinner and drinks.

We continued our Christmas-themed Tuesday afternoon bar crawl at Finn McCool’s Ale House in downtown Philadelphia. The Christmas theme and decorations were excellent, but the drinks were rather pricy, and they didn’t serve any food. Make sure you stop in for some great pictures and maybe a boozy hot chocolate, and you can keep the mug, but move on quickly to Philly’s other Christmas-themed bars!
