So the fish is made to order and let me tell you … The salmon was perfect. Man it was delicious. I wish I had gotten two. The customer service was top-tier. It was definitely affordable. The lemonade was on point too. I definitely will be back and hope they got a spot outside the mall.

I had the fried pork chop with mac & cheese. Do like the breading for the fried pork chop and the taste. Mac and cheese is a solid side. Made fresh to order but probably want the pork chop rest 1st before serving it to help fried pork chop maintain fried coating. Would order it again.

PLEASE TRY THIS PLACE… You will not regret it! Instantly my favorite stop in Westfield Wheaton. This chef understands how fried catfish and shrimp should be served and could teach a master class in fried food. Seemingly drip free of oil while being delicately super crispy outside and deliciously tender inside. The collards cooked traditionally with ham hock and the green beans with smoked turkey neck are worthy of center stage. The mango lemonade was also a great addition to an excellent value meal of one main, one side and a drink. We can’t wait to work our way through the menu! Truly brings back fond memories of traveling in the South.

I love soul food and I cook soul food. I know good soul food. The food was amazing. The greens were perfect. Greens can be difficult it is easy to under or over season them and another challenge is to get the texture on point. These greens were on point. The Mac n cheese was amazing and again, seasoned to perfection. Let’s talk about the pork chops. Man, they were delicious. It was an excellent quality of pork, they had amazing color to them, they were seasoned so nicely and very juicy, cooked all the way through . All of the orders are cooked to order…. I recommend this place…

When it comes to the food, it was just terrible. I ordered the fried catfish with mac and cheese and fries. The fries were very, very salty. The catfish breading was also very, very salty. The mac and cheese was dry, the cheese was in clumps and it just didn’t have that expected ooey-gooey texture.
Honestly, the entire was meal was terrible. This was my first visit and possibly my last.

Meals ($19+) were BOG 50% off, so we fed our family of two parents, two children, and a baby for $30.21. That included 4 chicken tenders (tasted like Zaxby’s), really good fries, mac and cheese, collard greens with ham, catfish, and jasmine rice. Delicious! Only complaints were the little bits of ham bone that were hard in the greens, ~12 minute wait, and the water in the drink machine was broken. But we were glad we went to the soul food place in the mall rather than than the other food court restaurants which all seemed to have the same thing.

Catfish 9.5/10 (Well seasoned, crisp. I had a To-go plate, packaged well to maintain crispness, not soggy)
Mac n Cheese 9.7/10 (Real Cheese and flavorful)
Collards 7/10 (Needed more meat, more liquid than I prefer)
Banana Pudding 9.3/10 (I am a banana person so it needed more bananas for my preference. Everything else was on point).

Banana Pudding: Yes, everytime I go

The best soul food I had in a long time. When I discovered the magic that is Mac n’ Cheese and Collards, I knew it would become a go to when I was needing a pick me up in life. This place does that for me. Go shop mall, then go here for lunch or dinner. Great food, and price. The staff was friendly and happy to serve. I look forward to eating there again.

Buy 1 get 2nd meal 50% off! I ordered 2 catfish dinners! I was here last week also. Ordered 1 catfish, yams, Mac & cheese, 2 banana puddings. The seasoning on the catfish was perfect! Angel, the owner is kind. I will continue to patronize her establishment. That means, I no longer have to travel to Mid-Atlantic Seafood in Laurel. I will road trip here to Wheaton Mall in Silver Spring, MD.
