What a hidden gem! I visited Fin City Fish & Chips while stopping by friends who keep their boat at South Bay Cove Marina and was told this is a brand new spot this year — and I’m so glad I checked it out.

I ordered the fish and chips with haddock on my friend’s recommendation (he tried it the week before and raved about it) and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Fried fish is tricky — it needs to be cooked at just the right temperature or it ends up overdone, greasy, or heavy, which sadly has been my experience at other places lately. But not here — they’ve truly mastered it. The fish was perfectly cooked, light, crispy, and not greasy at all. You can tell they care about doing it right.

The fries were also fantastic — clearly homemade and I’m pretty sure they’re russet, which makes all the difference. As a French Canadian, I can be pretty picky about my fries and these impressed me!

My friends ordered the wings and the Fish on a Bun — both were a hit and they couldn’t stop talking about how good everything tasted.

If you’re a boater in the Honey Harbour area (or just nearby), I’d absolutely recommend making a stop here to support this fantastic new local business. Oh — and don’t forget to try the Fin City Lager! Super refreshing and went perfectly with the meal.

I’ll definitely be back!

Lunch today was outstanding! Excellence across the board. The welcoming staff knew the menu, were attentive but we did not feel rushed. The food…..just fabulous! I had a Greek salad with pan fried fish, my husband had the traditional fish and chips which were crispy and not greasy. The grounds are beautiful and truly a keeper. If you are on the 400 near Port Severn this makes an excellent stop just minutes from the highway.

Camping with my family and we were looking for local food. My daughter wanted to try this place.

My 7 year old, the pickiest eater in the world (and not fond of fish): “This is so good, I just can’t. This is too good!”. The whole drive back, she kept asking for more…astounding.

As for my bro and I: we got the one-piece haddock and one-piece cod. Both great meals. Portion sizes were decent, nothing huge.

The lemonade was delicious and bubbly.

*Pic makes them look burnt: they were not burnt at all: just the way the photo came out* We shared the mozzarella sticks, and again, my picky eater kiddo couldn’t get enough. They were REALLY cheesy inside. I’ve never had mozzarella sticks that were 100% full of just stringy cheese.

The service was great. We were the only ones there; it was at lunch. The waitress was really friendly. Food was served fast and hot but not overcooked. The atmosphere is cute, and we love the views.

I can’t find a single complaint.

Full disclosure: You have to walk a short bit, BUT in all fairness: it’s at a resort, and it’s quite possible there could have been closer parking we didn’t see. Either way, it’s definitely nothing worth losing a star over. Just enjoy the walk and the views.

Overall, we are really glad this rain hit, or we wouldn’t have opted for local.

Nice place beside Delawana Resort on the channel. We parked our boat in the available restaurant slips and stopped for lunch. Service was good, served by manager possibly owner. Food came quick and was good … chicken poutine and chicken tenders with fries. Nice views from patio. Had a decent selection of food and drinks. Prices were reasonable. Only negative was the bathrooms being a bit outdated and messy. Overall would visit again if in area.

Great place for lunch on a summers day. What’s better than good food and a beer , on a deck watching the boats go by. First experience was so good we went the following weekend rather than finding somewhere new in the water. Servers are exceptional. Only 4 stars for food as a few things were not available; a minor quibble but it happened to be two of our choices. Hear things happen and the staff and ambience more than make up for a more limited choice

A lovely spot to eat with friendly service and delicious fish and chips — the size of the portions was perfect, the fish tasted fresh and the batter was light and crispy, not greasy at all. We enjoyed our seat on the patio overlooking the marina. Very glad we gave this place a try!

Really cool spot to stop in Georgian Bay, great view, nice patio atmosphere, great staff. Needs some TLC, and I think they plan on it soon. Food was really good, fish and chips waterside is really a must do when you are boating in Georgian Bay.

I never complain and hardly ever write reviews, but I feel compelled…..our dining experience was absolutely terrible!

Service was incredibly slow, even on a quiet day. Waited 45 for lunch that was awful. Ordered pan fried pickerel and waited forever, only to be told that it would take another 20 minutes to thaw, before it could be cooked. Switched our order to the halibut instead and when it was served, it was chewy and like rubber. A knife could barely cut through it. My husband couldn’t eat the fish and I had to bury mine in a mediocre tartar sauce. We advised our waitress (who was lovely and the only positive part of this lunch experience) and she took 10% off the bill. Not impressive for a disgusting meal.

We have shared our disappointing experience with several people, including the team members at our marina, and they validated our experience….other boaters and cottagers in the area, have had terrible meals there too.

We will keep warning others not to waste their money at this restaurant. Won’t be back!

Three strikes, and you’re out !

This is the last time i will EVER give FinCity money. Years ago, we had one good experience in honey harbor. We had multiple bad ones after. Now they have moved to south bay and we decided to try one more time. To call the service slow would be overly gracious. The venue was stifling. No a.c. minimal (usless) fans. No air flow at all. The order was wrong in multiple ways. The waitress was unattentive and non apologetic. On wing night, no napkins or paper towels were offered. Only a couple wet naps in the packages. No tatar sauce for fish and chips. Sangria was watered down fruit juice at best. They don’t have a blender but offer magaritas…… ? The drinks we did order took forever, and once they did arrive, there were no refills offered once. A complete order was missed entirely. Which was unfortunate considering an order of wings was 5 wings and a huge amount of fries. When questioned, i was told it was coming. It never did. In the end, I simply(and politly) told the waitress we would not be back. And she offered no explanation, apology, or rebutle. Just the cheque.

Lack of management seems very evident here.

Many other great venues in the area. Like:
The harbor house
Christies mill
Rawley lodge
Exit 152 grill ( h&s )
Nicolas resturante

We are all extremely disappointed and highly recommend avoiding.
