If you’ve ever watched the Netflix movie, Nonnas, Filomena’s is exactly the real life version of it here at Irvine, California, as the warm atmosphere, the food, and the people here are so nice.
Filomena’s has both the kitchen and the market, came to buy the sandwich at the market, asked for recommendations, the answer is “Italian Special”, prosciutto, soppresate, pepper ham, salami, capicola, mortadella, and provolone, all in a 2.5 pound sandwich, with Jalapeño, tomato, and onions, , it’s really GIANT, love not just size of it but also the taste of it !!!

Chicken parmigiana was a little tough but the sauce was good the spaghetti was good maybe a little more pasta for the huge size of the chicken portion. The cheese was good. Staff was amazing and super friendly and even offered to change the plate.

This a local place with a market and restaurant. It was busy, but we were able to carry on a normal conversation. The pasta and pizza were both excellent. The pasta was fresh and the pizza had plenty of toppings. The service was just right, the server was helpful and attentive. The market sells fresh pasta, sauces, gelato and desserts. Don’t go without a reservation, the place is small and fills up at the dinner hours. I hope you give it a try.

The place is amazing. Super small but overwhelming with great service. Had a party of 8 for lunch with an unexpected plus one, and they were super accommodating. The service was done w a smile and plenty of joking from Manny. Even the market side staff was great. Food was absolutely delicious. Portions were decent sized. It was our first time visiting Filomena’s and although the restaurant gets strong reviews, my meal was a miss rather than a hit. This pasta dish was literally swimming in broth. I sampled other meals from various dishes guests were having, but I still couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed. We were on a time schedule, otherwise I would have asked the waiter to re-fire the dish. The service was super friendly and attentive and so I’ll give a 3 out of 4 stars.

Loved this place so much, we ate here two nights in a row! Only in town for the weekend and the OC hotel recommended it to us. It was a 2 minute walk away so why not? It was sooooo good and the service was incredible! Manny and Hector were both amazing and hilarious! We had the chicken parm and split it between two people (it’s massive), the garlic bread and a cannoli, and the second night we had a pizza and gelato! Both were outstanding and the restaurant staff was like family. They were all so talented! We have to come back!
