During my two-week stay in Jamul, I decided to revisit Filippi’s Pizza Grotto, having enjoyed it previously in Little Italy back in 2019. Once again, it did not disappoint. Opting for a medium pizza with half Hawaiian and half Fit for a King, accompanied by a refreshing hazy IPA, we were so eager to dig in that we skipped photographing the entire pizza – a testament to our excitement and hunger.
Our server was fantastic, a truly attentive and very friendly individual who elevated our dining experience. Overall, the establishment boasts a great atmosphere with delicious pizza, ample parking, and an abundance of seating. A thoroughly enjoyable visit.

Stopped in on a Saturday. No wait for a table, service was excellent and the food was delivered to our table in about 10 min. Nice atmosphere, TV’s in dining area were pleasant but may take away from a romantic atmosphere, hence the 4 stars.
I will return again.

Been a long time loyal customer. Employees used to be like family. However, walked in tonight to all new staff. Waiting for a to-go order as usual. I had to sit there and listen to employees talk about truck suspension, and NOBODY asked if I was waiting for an order for 10 minutes, not counting the 10 minutes in the parking lot. Cashier looked at me twice, and never said a word. Spoke to a guy I recognized and asked what was going on, and he immediately became defensive. I will NEVER come back to this location. $31 for a medium pizza is too expensive anyways, and lack of customer attentiveness breaks the deal. It felt like a frat house. Besides, the menu is bland. I can always go to Rogerios 2 miles away, like all of my friends, and the menu is way better. Convenience was key though, being a half mile away. But after tonight, forget about it. Waiting for a call from the owner, which I’ll probably never recieve. I will let all of my other friends, family, and social media know to disregard Jamul Filippis.

A classic San Diego spot with a large menu. The place the family built is still standing strong, with some great subs and pasta dishes. If you like a REAL cheesy pizza, this is the spot for you as well. The mega-sized meatballs have been a favorite of mine since childhood, and they never dissapoint.

Of all the Filippi’s around San Diego I believe this location has the best pizza. I also like getting their family combo which comes with soup, salad, bread, garlic bread, ravioli, lasagna and spaghetti. The fettuccine and sandwiches are also quite good. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. There’s also plenty of parking. You couldn’t ask for anything more.

Ordered the meatball sandwich, sausage sandwich, the works pizza, spaghetti with meatball and cannoli. The marinara sauce was plain, no homemade flavor. The spaghetti was not al dente. Prego sauce from the grocery store tastes better. The meatball was mostly filling and not flavorful. The pizza dough had a strong yeast taste, too dense and tough. The cannoli was not to par, where the filling was gritty, more like cookie dough. The best thing there was the bread and butter they gave and the service was excellent. They do serve large portions.

Come on, you know the place is the best around…
Here we are again and, as usual, still the best place in town!

The food here never disappoints because it’s delicious. I love the “all white” pizza (in pic) off the special menu, which is my favorite, and the Hawaiian is always a favorite at home (in photo with bacon added). I’m adding a photo of a slice of thin crust ‘the works’ which we really enjoyed with less carbs and less cheese than the traditional pizza made here.

Sauce is good
pasta is good,
but Caesar salad was drowned in dressing
And after I specifically said “last time I was here the meatballs were burnt” please don’t bring me that again,
they brought me this bread : (see attached picture)

This filipis location is different from others . Their menu is different . At this location they do not offer wings and some other appetizers as well. The spaghetti was good and somewhat warm. The works pizza was a straight 8 out 10. We also tried the meatball sandwich ,which we also rate an 8 out of 10. The service was decent, food took a while and that was that .
