The rolls to beat! From left to right: the cowboy roll – savory steak and shrimp tempura, mild flavor, very satisfying. Next, tuna love roll – fresh tasting tuna with a citrus aoili, amazing bright flavor, so yummy. Last, was the firecracker roll – salmon with a salsa topping and picked jalapeno, the perfect amount of spice, not too hot, also very fresh tasting. Additionally we got the tuna tacos for an appetizer, which honestly were my favorite, the crunch mixed with the tuna, mango and avocado are amazing. Everything tasted so fresh, no funky old fish and everything had it’s own delicious flavoring. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience all around. The food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the salmon crab bake roll. OMG!! Our server Jenny was wonderful. She was attentive and helpful, and the atmosphere around 2:15pm on a Wednesday was just the way we like it, relaxed and peaceful.

I never noticed this place while driving by before, but i’m so glad my fiancée and I decided to come. We ordered the sushi burritos with the fries as the side and they were absolutely DELICIOUS. I got the Fighting Fish sushi burrito with salmon and my fiancée got the Lochness sushi burrito. The servers and staff were very nice. The atmosphere is classy and intimate. Highly recommend, will definitely be returning.

Have heard people say that fighting fish is expensive. And after going there to try it for myself, I have to disagree! See, the thing is, they give you such an over abundance of food. So for what you are being given, that price point is spot on. Would recommend splitting dishes!! Everything was so freaking delicious omg. We got the combo lunch specials and the fish tower. And I just have to say, never in my life have I had such a big, thoughtfully put together, and yummy ginger salad before. The fish was super fresh and tasty! And the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Quality of fish was fresh, I think lol. I was surprised that the yellowtail roll was dark and a diced consistency rather than a light colored and a solid piece, but that may just be my preference/experience. I was expecting a brighter/cleaner flavor but it tasted pretty fatty. I wish they had a shrimp tempura roll that isn’t spicy (besides the cowboy one). The flavor of the Tiger Tempura roll is great, I just prefer for the wasabi to be the spice in my sushi.

I’ll be back to try again, no doubt. Great spot, the atmosphere was nice.

This is the place I recommend to everyone looking for good Japanese fish cuisine. Many other establishments have gone downhill in quality, and it’s a stark difference from the careful attention Fighting Fish puts towards their food.

It’s sad to say how many other places neglect freshness. I don’t want to mention how many times I’ve been let down by inedible meals in Richmond, so this is a beacon of light.

All the fish is extremely fresh and professionally prepared and selected. All the produce is in peak condition – if you’ve ever been let down by hard mango bits or bruised avocados, you’re in luck. And the service has always been excellent.

I’ve had the Poke Bowl, warm sake, Chirashi, seared tuna appetizer, and sushi burrito all of which I highly recommend. I will absolutely go again and keep hyping everyone up about it hoping that it stays as good as it is today.

Thank you for showing everyone how it’s done!!

A great place for lunch or dinner. We are there for lunch quite often. Their lunch menu includes a stellar salad, miso soup, and great sushi/sashimi/ roll options, all under $25. The here chef is an over-achiever! Parking has always worked out for us on the Boulevard right in front of the restaurant. I have not been to Happy Hour there but it looks good too. You should try this restaurant!

Do the pictures not say enough? Beautiful presentation and with such short notice. Staff were so friendly, helpful, and communicative. They made this amazing sushi “cake” for a friend of mine and blew us away both visually and in taste! It was so delicious. I’m a big fan of their sushi burritos but this is what sold me for sure!
