Field & Tides remains my favorite restaurant in all of Houston for its food, atmosphere, and service.

Being new to the city, I discovered it along with my best friend in 2021 shortly after I moved here. On that first visit we had oysters & crispy Brussels, tuna poke, crab dip, and delicious cocktails.

I’ve since been many times solo to enjoy an oyster Caesar, delicious redfish, and a manhattan- always superb. I tried to take my bff in August of 2025 but we arrived to find a gas leak had temporarily closed the restaurant.

I was finally able to get my friend back in town for dinner here in Dec 2025 and it was nothing short of AMAZING.
Once again we had oysters & crispy Brussels, tuna poke, but got to try the fried pimento cheese balls, duck ragu, scallops with crab & shrimp risotto. Everything was divine.
The service is always stellar, from the hostess to the bar to the wait staff. Whether I’ve come during the weekday for lunch or a weekend dinner, an excellent, satisfying dining experience is guaranteed.

Met up with a friend for dinner, and this was on both of our lists to try. The exterior is very inviting. We visited on a Friday night and it was fairly busy with reservations (which we didn’t have). Luckily, there are actually two separate buildings on the same plot, and we basically sat in the overflow, which was more than fine. We were happy they were able to accommodate us

Everything from the staff, the decor, the menu, the food/drinks, it all felt like an elevated dining experience. Nothing too formal or stuffy, just higher quality across the board

The menu offers a variety of delectable small plates, entrees, cocktails, wine, etc. everything sounded, looked, and tastes incredible. The portions were hearty, plated elegantly, and again, hit the spot in terms of flavors

Because this is slightly more elevated, the prices also reflect this somewhat. It’s not unaffordable, but you pay for quality

Some tips:
There is a small lot next to them, but you can always find some street parking. If you are a fan of seafood, there are quite a variety of solid options to choose from. The name actually comes from the chef’s appreciate for and choice to use locally and organic components from the “fields” (vegetables, poultry, beef, etc. and the seafood has a gulf emphasis (“tides”)

Cheers!!

The food at Fields & Tides was quite good, and the portion sizes were reasonable. Just note that there is a $5 charge for splitting a plate. The service was average — the servers could be a bit friendlier and more welcoming with a smile. Overall, it was a nice experience at a cozy restaurant.

This place is amazing! Fried oysters and brussels sprouts appetizer is great, BEST chicken piccata ever, and amazing shrimp and grits (and I’m normally not crazy about grits). The tres leches cake is great with a strong cinnamon taste. The strawberries and cream with basil was INSANE, it is enormous and quite satiating (could easily serve three people). The base reminded me more of sugar cookie than a shortbread in texture, which is strange because I don’t like sugar cookies but I loved this; just a perfect texture and flavor. Our server was great too. We’ll definitely be back.

This was my first time visiting Field and Tides. The ambience was cozy though a bit loud as the space is enclosed. The menu did not have a lot of variety. I had the she-crab soup, the red fish meal and raspberry bread pudding. The food and service were okay.

My husband and I stopped by Field & Tides for Sunday brunch and had such a wonderful experience. The breakfast flautas were hands down the best I’ve ever had — perfectly crisp, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. The espresso martinis were just as delicious and the perfect brunch treat. Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. We had a great time and can’t wait to come back!

Field & Tides is one of our favorite restaurants. My wife and I were entertaining a long time friend last night. Gibran our server was excellent, efficient and prompt. All in all our food was excellent. Well prepared and delicious. My only quibble was that the risotto that accompanied my friend’s delicious scallops and my excellent snapper special was heavy on the salt. Nevertheless, we will return. Field & Tides is special.

We have generally liked dining here over the years, and I appreciate that they have a more seafood focus compared to a lot of similar restaurants. The food is good, although we think it’s slightly expensive for what it is. Still, the seafood options are good, and their pork chop is good.

The restaurant is on the small side, and they tend to full up, even though they also have a patio – so I recommend getting reservations and getting there early.

This place is fantastic! The atmosphere is incredible, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is incredibly diverse, and we were overwhelmed with choices. We ended up ordering a lot, but everything was delicious. My friends from Florida were especially delighted. I’ll definitely be back! Thanks to, Sam, Mickey and Justin.

I enjoyed this little gem with local friends. It made my inner Southern girl smile. From my mocktail to desert, the food was perfect and the service was friendly but not overbearing.
