I had burned my hand before coming in, and they immediately rushed to get me ice and even put my ice pack in the freezer for me. That level of kindness meant so much.
The food? Absolutely incredible. Honestly, they could have charged double for the Valentine’s seafood platter. $37 for a massive seafood platter and four sides was unbelievable. Everything was cooked to perfection.
I have three autoimmune diseases, and almost every time I eat out, I end up sneezing from something in the food. Not this time. Not once. They use real butter to cook the seafood, and you can taste the quality. The onion rings, hush puppies, coleslaw, cheese grits, and loaded baked potato were all fantastic. And that banana pudding? Wow. My husband loved the chocolate cheesecake just as much.
It was exactly what we needed on our way to our little getaway. We left feeling cared for, satisfied, and grateful.
I ordered the shrimp and grits, which tasted like instant grits with shrimp, bacon, and sauce simply dropped on top. It felt more like a quick home-cooked meal than something you’d expect from a seafood restaurant.
We also tried the seafood sampler platter, which has to be served all one way—grilled, fried, or blackened. At $30, it was just okay. The grilled shrimp were good, and the stuffed crab was tasty. However, the bay scallops were very small, the hush puppies were slightly burnt, and the corn fritters were just average. The crab fingers appetizer (grilled) was a highlight, though.
Unfortunately, they were out of oysters, which felt like a big miss given the name of the restaurant.
Overall, while the service was excellent, the food seemed a bit basic for a seafood house, especially at the price point.
We will be back in November with a larger group for our senior citizens meeting. Everything was wonderful so we will have our November meeting and lunch at Fiddler’s. Our server was very attentive and was much more than expected. Food was very good and portions was very generous. Some of us had shrimp, some had fish and some had both. Coleslaw was very good.
Pros:
✅Daisy sour cream and real butter without yucky ingredients
✅Wide, chunky cut lemons – makes it easier to squeeze on seafood
✅Friendly, attentive service
✅Veterans discount
✅Front door parking for combat veterans
Cons:
Would like to have a Caesar salad, or Caesar dressing as an option for a house salad
Offer a smaller serving of cheese curds as an alternative to fries or other sides
Old Bay!
