Located on the banks of the Milwaukee River along the village’s main street, the building dates from 1839 when things moved a bit slower and conversation was the primary means of communication. Our Thiensville location boasts a beautiful outdoor patio complete with the natural backdrop of the Milwaukee River. It’s not unusual to spot wildlife such as fox, deer, herons and eagles as you enjoy your Fiddleheads coffee. Indoors, you will find, antique original artwork lines the walls, complementing its rough-hewn hardwood floors, reminiscent of Old Vienna. It’s a great meeting place with Old World feel. Our café is always bicyclist, and family friendly.

The coffee here has honestly been disappointing. It’s extremely inconsistent — half the time it tastes overly strong and bitter, almost burnt, and the other half it’s just mid or okay. Even the flavored drinks aren’t balanced. I ordered a vanilla latte expecting something smooth with a clear vanilla flavor, but it barely tasted like vanilla at all. Instead, it was overpoweringly strong and harsh, to the point that it made me feel a little sick afterward. It’s frustrating when even a basic flavored latte doesn’t taste right.
That said, the ambiance is genuinely nice. The space is cozy, welcoming, and has a great atmosphere to sit, relax, or get some work done. The staff has also been polite, and you can tell there’s potential here. I really want to like this place, especially since we chose it instead of Starbucks, but the coffee quality and consistency really need improvement. If they can fix the balance and flavor, this could easily become a solid local favorite.

All time best study/work spot in Thiensville. In the fall and spring I spend way too much time here studying and trying new drinks and baked sweets. The staff are the best! I tell everyone to come here because the coffee and atmosphere are so good. The food and baked goods are great too, I’ve never been disappointed with an order. I can’t say enough about the staff, they make this place amazing. The shop itself is always clean and welcoming, and the view of the river is beautiful.

Parking can be hard to find, as the parking lot is quite small for the volume of business they do here. It can be quite tight getting in/out of parking spots.

Love the atmosphere of this little coffee spot. The drinks are well made and the patio right by the river is a very pretty setting to relax and caffeinate. The staff is friendly and fast which is good because they are pretty busy most days.

We’ve barely been back in Milwaukee for a week and I think we’ve been almost every day so far!! This is truly my favorite coffee spot in the Thiensville area – actually totally worth the drive even if you are outside of Thiensville! This location sits right on the river – so inside or outside, or the outdoor winterized patio with fireplace – it just doesn’t get better than this! The service is always fantastic – everyone is so nice and bends over backwards to accommodate.
I’ve brought work here and sat for a few hours during the winter and it’s such a cozy welcoming place! Really it’s a must come kind of place!
For drinks – definitely try the iced mocha! But I like their lattes almost any way you order – iced or hot. They do offer a variety ofdifferent milk options. I’m always oat milk, but they have other options as well.
The pastries are really good. Chicken pesto is a lunch favorite. Chocolate chip cookies are one of my daughter’s must get. And if they have the blueberry lavendar scone, try it!! – it’s SO delicious!
Last note – they have a bike repair station. That is absolutely adorable and ridiculously well appointed.!! We’ve used it to put air in the stroller tires, but they have all the tools! I’ve added a photo here, because there were some tools I didn’t even know you needed for a bike!!

I love the vibe of this place. There are SO many places to sit, whether you wanna sit by the stream, outside in the covered fireplace area, or indoors. It was pretty busy when I got here but because there’s so much space it felt perfect. Also the staff here were all so smiley!

I stop here way too often. Expensive habbit that I can’t seem to break. The staff is super friendly and always willing to get creative with your requests. I’ve been hear more than 30 times and never had a negative staff experience. Outdoor seating is amazing next to river or the enclosed fireplace area. I’m obsessed and need to go now. Love everything on the menu. Only thing I noticed is you get a way bigger side salad if you dine in. Take out is Itty bitty

Oh my!! I was blown away by how amazing this place was. The food the service the atmosphere. It was like being at home. So cozy. Even with quite a few people it still felt quiet. The food had great flavor and texture. You kind of forget you’re in a cafe. I could have sat in there for hours talking with my husband. If you are in the area or staying at Sybaris it is just down the road and it is great.
