We tried the harira and the fatoush, and both were good. The harira was comforting and well seasoned, and the fatoush was fresh and nicely dressed. The lamb prunes dish was too sweet for my taste. I was expecting it to be more savory and spiced, so it didn’t work for me. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, with some dishes stronger than others.

Landed here on a Friday evening and it was so worth it. It wasn’t crowded but soon customers started filling in. At the outset, the Moroccan mint tea was so refreshing. Then, for appetisers, I tried the Sfeha-Bi-Lahmi and it tasted like little pockets of heaven — the meat inside the dough was tender and was served with hummus and salad and a side dip. Then, we got the chicken tagine with lemon and olives and the lamb couscous. Both were amazing — the lamb was so flavourful and piled onto a bed of couscous with steamed veggies and chickpeas. The chicken tagine was good with the generous serving of olives and french fries with moroccan bread. The server/owner probably figured out that it was our first time and was super kind and great to talk to. Honestly, I think, more than the food, some people just leave a mark with how they behave with kindness and love and that elevates the whole experience of dining. For me, this was that. 🙂
All in all, loved the food, the service, and the warm homely atmosphere. 10/10 would go again. Also, the desserts!! I’m pretty sure I didn’t catch the name of what we ordered but man, it was good!!

To start off this place needs a complete revamp. Water was served in broken glasses. Upon identifying they served us water in plastic cups.
Then food came after taking recommendation from the host/waiter and it was not good.
The bastilla was too sweet and the tagin was lacking any sort of flavor. It was bland.
The bread was too hard as well.
Will never be back. Even the tea was bad.

I ordered the Tfaya (djaaj), drawn by curiosity about raisin-topped couscous, and was rewarded with a warm, herbal, deeply satisfying dish. The flavors felt honest and transportive, offering the closest approximation of a Maghrebi home kitchen I’ve encountered locally. While the setting is modest and the operation clearly small, the food carries cultural confidence and care. Fettoosh succeeds not by spectacle, but by intimacy—and that, here, is its strength!

Fettoosh is one of those restaurants you fall in love with at first sight, the friendly waiters and the cozy atmosphere make for a great expedition.
Went in on August 19, to order the lamb kabob plate for $18.95 as well as any drink from the fridge for $2.75.
The wait did not feel long as there was music playing in the background, every table gets complementary pita bread (just like how Mexican restaurants do ) which was also good.
Once we got the food we dug in, the lamb was a bit rough, but apart from that the salad complimented it. The rice was decent, and the hummus served for both the pita and the lamb chops.
At the end the owner gave us complimentary tea and I’d say Fettoosh was one of the most welcoming restaurants I’ve been in on the D.C. area.

Absolutely delicious food! This place is a small restaurant in a non-descript little building and from the outside you may overlook it. But inside you will be welcomed and made to feel special. There’s some free parking immediately outside the restaurant but should not be an issue. My wife and I tried this place in an effort to try something new and were glad we did. Everything looked so good that we ordered more than we would be able to finish, but happily left with leftovers. For starters we had zaalouk (my wife’s favorite), fettoosh (one of my favorites), a small chicken bastilla, and chicken tangine with lemon and olives (so delicious), and hot mint tea. Everything was delicious and the owner was a great host. This place is a must try, but I recommend going family style as there’s a lot of food.
