Ferreira Café – Montréal – a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant
Reviews
I had such an amazing experience here. My friend and I visited Montreal during weekends and we chose this restaurant to try first, and we were so impressed by how nice staffs were, how good the foods were, and terrific service!!
The food was flawless with perfect balance. We reserved a bar but asked to change it to a main table if possible. They helped us secure the table and even offered a glass of wine for free while waiting.
I visit Montreal at least once a month and this will be my next go-to restaurant.
I appreciate how generous you guys are. And wonderful chefs !!
The ingredients are so fresh and fine.
My visit to Ferreira Café was nothing short of extraordinary. Their cuisine is truly amazing, showcasing a perfect blend of creativity, quality, and authentic Portuguese flavors. From start to finish, every dish felt like a carefully crafted work of art.
We began with their signature appetizer, the Crispy Octopus and the Seafood Platter and both were spectacular. The presentation was beautiful, and each bite was well-balanced and full of flavor. It set the tone for what became an unforgettable dining experience.
The main courses were just as impressive. The “Fresh Catch from the Market and Portugal” lived up to its name: fresh, soft, and rich in flavor. The Fish and Seafood Bouillabaisse and the Lagareiro Octopus were incredibly savory and deeply satisfying. And the Tomahawk? An absolute masterpiece, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. It was truly one of the highlights of the night.
The cocktails were equally impressive. The Negroni, Filthy Martini, and Gaia were crafted with precision and tasted like works of art in a glass. The sommelier’s champagne and wine recommendations were spot-on, and we thoroughly enjoyed every selection he made.
With great ambiance, friendly staff, and outstanding service, Ferreira Café delivered a memorable dining experience from beginning to end. As my first time enjoying Portuguese cuisine, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction. This restaurant is truly worth visiting.
However what we decided to order was good but not excellent. The crab cake was mainly béchamel and onion. Good but not what we expected. Most things were slightly overcooked. For the price we expected perfection! The citrus earl grey sorbet crunch has such potential but has so much liquid it made the ‘crunch’ soggy.
Ask to sit in the back if you’re interested in haut cuisine— you have full access to see the kitchen! Very cool.
I think we came on an off night because the menu, service and atmosphere speak for themselves! One to come back to to try again
From the start, the waiter’s behaviour was unprofessional. While I was placing our order, he walked away to serve another table and later seemed uncomfortable when we said we did not want any starters.
When my brother’s sea bass was served, we were not asked whether we would like the head and tail removed. This was surprising, as a neighbouring table received the same dish properly prepared by another waiter.
The situation became more awkward when the bill arrived. I chose not to add a tip, but the waiter insisted that the minimum was 15% and selected it himself on the card machine without my consent.
I normally have no issue tipping and respect hospitality staff, but on this occasion the service and attitude significantly detracted from the experience.
Exceptionally very fresh seafood. Very attentive and welcoming staff despite the fact that it was busy. I would say you can’t get wrong with anything in the menu, but I would highly recommend so sardine appetizer!
From the beginning we were greeted with a friendly and kind smile by the hostesses. We were early so sat at the bar for some drinks, beautiful bar and comfortable high chairs. Our waiter was very attentive and gave us a good rundown of the food on the menu. I ended up having the fish and seafood bouillabaisse and my wife had the seafood rice casserole. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and the flavour were delicious. My bouillabaisse sauce was so good I had to have it like soup with bread, I also order the carabineiro which added extra flavour!
We will definitely come back to Ferreira next time we visit Montreal.
Obrigado!
