ordered my usual medium well steak sandwhich and halfway through i realized that the steak was damn near bleeding raw I loved my waitress Mallory she was kind, understanding, and provided a solution to my problem! she took the plate back and brought me a whole new sandwhich which she didn’t let me pay for!❤️ 10/10 i really appreciate her and i will be coming back to my favorite restaurant in ennis!

Fern in the Wild is a favorite for weekend brunch, the biscuits and sausage are DIVINE! The best I’ve had anywhere. We ventured out last week on a Wednesday night for their chicken fried steak and it was delicious! The maple bourbon creme broulee was such a treat. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed this niche farm to table restaurant. The food was tasty, but wished the flavors and textures blended better. The chicken and waffles honey was a tad too sweet, and the waffles/chicken a tad too crisp. I would have enjoyed a tamer flavor and softer texture better. But, it was a lovely experience all around.

The internet led us to Ennis and Fern in the Wild on our way southward from Keene. The motif of this half caffe half shop is artsy with a full bar all set in a historic bay with high ceilings and brick interior walls.
We ate the Fern Bowl with grilled chicken and the Butternut Squash Ravioli. Very good! Finished it all with a smooth pour over. Definitely, veer off the beaten path to check this joint out.

I wish there was another star to give for the Service at Fern in the Wild! Carley our server was amazing! She didn’t mind telling us about the specials several times because we kept talking and forgetting what she said! She told us her favorite but didn’t try to make us get them and when we made our choices she affirmed our choices because she knew that everything on their menu was yummy. The atmosphere was really sweet and comfortable the food was every bit as good as anything you would get out of brunch restaurant in Dallas! Colleague explained that Fern in the wild is a farm to table eatery sourced locally grown locally or prepared locally! Our table was spectacular with a beautiful view of the cute street outside it felt private without being snobby. I can’t wait to bring other people here! The attention to the smallest detail was so nice to see . Also the bathrooms were so clean and although I do not have children or grandchildren the koala care station in the restroom was the nicest one I have ever seen anywhere ! After brunch we took a stroll through the gift shop and I cannot wait to wear the cute dress that I bought!

Brunch was amazingly delicious. Chicken and waffles hit the spot. The garlic fries to start were perfectly crispy and seasoning. I have heard good things and was finally able to try it. We will return.

I was looking for an upscale brunch in Dallas for my daughter’s 16th birthday shopping trip, and decided to stop here in Ennis instead. So glad we did! The aesthetic was perfectly her, and the hot lavender tea was perfectly me. She loved her chicken Caesar salad, and I ate the best tomato soup with a crispy grilled cheese that I’ve ever had. Seriously. Can’t wait to go back for another girl’s day or a date night!

Everything I’ve gotten from here has been absolutely amazing! The service is always top notch and the bartenders always go above and beyond and take pride in their drinks. The kitchen actually makes delicious food (not “okay” food, but delicious!). Also, the atmosphere already speaks for itself. This is a great spot to visit maybe once every three weeks or once a month, depending how much you want to spend dining out.
