Had lunch today. The food, atmosphere and service was fine, just not what you expect from a 4.6 ranked restaurant for $50 w/only water to drink. Just OK, nothing special.

Fenwick’s is a great neighborhood restaurant that has been serving locals since the 80’s. The menu is straightforward and everything we’ve tried over the years, for brunch, lunch or dinner, has been done very well.

Our favorite things to order are the Fried Shrimp, Chicken Salad, Club Sandwich and Catch of the Day which is always fresh. Often times the daily specials will include seafood like Sea Bass, Halibut or meats like a Rib-Eye or Pork Chop. For dessert, go with the Pecan Cream Pie. During holidays they offer whole pies.

Parking is tight. The lot next door has signs warning of towing so keep that in mind. Overall, I’m glad Fenwick’s has stood the test of time, dealing with changes and keeping the train rolling.

I really enjoyed Fenwick’s in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has a total old-school vibe. Their space is small. They have a nice sized bar and about 10 tables inside. They also had outside seating, but it was way too hot. The inside was all wood and reminded me of some places back in the 70s. I really enjoyed it. The service was absolutely stellar. I wish I got our servers name. She was so funny, quick and so knowledgeable about the menu and the items. I’m a big eater and she kept saying we ordered way too much food and we totally did but I love leftovers. The food was fantastic. I loved everything we ordered. We had the fried shrimp appetizer and fries -extra crispy. The shrimp were not greasy at all and well seasoned. The fries were crispy and not too salty. We ended up each getting an entrée and splitting the entree shrimp remoulade salad. I had to try the burger, but I got a side of potato salad since I already had fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and delicious. The only thing I didn’t even think of was that she never asked me if I wanted cheese on it. It was still very good. The potato salad was mayonnaise based but also had a delicious vinegar taste. The consistency was amazing as well. My friend had the trout and she liked it. It came with two sides. The salad was delicious. They were very generous with the shrimp and I don’t know how much the dish was, but I think it was not cheap. The sauce wasn’t too spicy and very creamy. The shrimp and the trout were on special so I’m not even sure how much it cost. Our bill was $120 with tip and we did not drink. We definitely will go back and try other things for sure.

My husband and I just discovered Fenwick’s and now we’re obsessed! This place is such a hidden gem!!! It is so cute and welcoming and all of the staff made us feel like family. Our drinks came fast and were delicious, the food was so flavorful and generously portioned, and we loved the cozy atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and order the cocktail specials! They were perfection! The tomato bisque was heaven in a bowl and I can’t stop thinking about that bread pudding in the whiskey sauce. To.die.for!! The owner even stopped by our table and she is the sweetest! We can’t wait to go back!

Great restaurant with fabulous food! We thoroughly enjoyed all of our food. Their prices aren’t necessarily cheap but aren’t very expensive either. The food is very high quality though. Sauces and dressings are made in house. In addition to a great regular menu they have great board specials too.

The Ceasar Salad is one of the best that I have ever tasted. The fried oysters appetizer was divine. They were super fresh oysters breaded just before cooking. The batter was light but provided good crunch to complement them.

We both ordered our entrees off of the Specials board. She ordered the Swordfish which was fantastic and I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken which was superb!

They have a full bar but no beers on draft. They do have some good craft beers in bottles though. They had many delicious sounding specialty cocktails on the menu.

The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. The place is small so it felt very cozy without being pretentious. Cheers!

My fiancé and I recently dined at Fenwick’s, and while the experience was largely positive, the dim lighting detracted from our overall enjoyment, preventing a five-star rating.

However, the food was exceptional. We started with the shrimp appetizer, a truly outstanding dish. The shrimp were fresh and delightfully crunchy, and the remoulade sauce was the perfect complement. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered a second portion and it was the right choice!

My burger, ordered medium-rare but cooked closer to medium, was still incredibly delicious. The American cheese was perfectly melted, and the patty was juicy and flavorful. The accompanying French fries offered a pleasant sweetness without being overpowering. My fiancé’s club sandwich was equally well-received, and she took some home.

Service was nothing to brag home about, but it was decent for the type of cuisine it is. The restaurant’s exceptional food is limited however with their impending closure in March.

I highly recommend visiting Fenwick’s before then to experience this culinary gem. Truly amazing food! Please read the letter posted in the pictures below from the restaurant’s owner.

A hidden gem in the Meyers Park neighborhood on Providence Rd: Fenwick’s, a restaurant that has been a cornerstone of Charlotte dining for over 40 years. This recommendation comes courtesy of a local foodie and burger connoisseur—thanks, friend!

Parking is free, but be aware that the lot can fill up quickly on busy nights.

The ambiance at Fenwick’s captures the quintessential neighborhood bar atmosphere, where locals come together for a comfortable and familiar experience. The decor is straightforward and unpretentious, featuring carpeted floors, wooden booths and tables, and a full bar with about eight seats. The music playlist is perfectly curated, with tunes from Bob Marley to the Allman Brothers adding to the laid-back vibe.

Fenwick’s menu, with everything made in-house, offers a selection of classic American fare. Highlights include their signature tomato bisque and the “Nawlins Po’ Boy,” available with either fried shrimp or oysters. For those seeking lighter options, there are dishes like salmon or quiche. The daily specials board is a standout, featuring soups, fish, salads, steaks, and desserts.

My waitress, Stacey, has been a fixture at this neighborhood gem for nine years. Her extensive knowledge of the menu and friendly demeanor made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

I decided to try the “Fenwick’s Burger,” which boasts a thick, hand-pressed 8oz patty. I opted for American cheese and requested it be cooked to a medium temperature. The bun was soft and fluffy, lightly toasted with sesame seeds on top. The patty had a delightful backyard barbecue flavor, elevating this burger to one of my top choices for a straightforward, locally made option. For my side, I selected the house-made potato salad, which struck the perfect balance of Dijon mustard and mayonnaise, complemented by well-sized potato chunks. While hand-cut fries aren’t included as a side (they must be ordered separately), other options such as salad, soup, and a daily special side—in this case, zucchini—are available.

One of the daily specials was shrimp étouffée, a dish I hadn’t enjoyed in quite some time. I ordered the last serving of the night for takeout, knowing that such dishes often taste even better the next day. I’ll have to follow up with my thoughts later, but given the quality of the rest of my meal, I have high expectations.

For those seeking a place with friendly and knowledgeable staff, a warm neighborhood atmosphere, and satisfying, home-cooked meals, Fenwick’s is a must-visit. Thank you, foodie friend, for steering me in the right direction!

Great place to eat. I had a turkey and Swiss with fries. It was really good. Too many fries to eat…lol A friend had the club sandwich, it was huge and she said it was really good. Others had the ham on rye. They loved them. Service was quick and waitress was friendly.

So, we’ve been coming here for almost a decade, and the food is consistent and good. The new male waiter is a little rude, but it is what it is. What I’m complaining about are the prices of this food. Last time we went, the food was mid. We got two meals, two drinks, and one pie which was over $100. That’s crazy. You can get better for cheaper, which is what I would recommend someone to do. There’s no reason to be spending $100+ on two meals, two drinks, and a slice of pie that should be worth $40.
